You think? I see him as an athletic SF.. A Shawn Marion type with more athleticism. I love this kid personally. yeah he is raw, but he's gone from a virtual unknown to being projected as a potential #1 pick. Imagine if you will a future front line of Perk, Jefferson and Williams. The big 3 has returned. ;D Yes I'm dreaming... A good dream though don't you think?
I love this quote from NBADraft.net
"Never out-worked or out-hustled... "
How about this for a scenario? New Orleans wins the lottery. We trade picks and Pierce for the #1 pick and short term filler and we guarentee Marvin we select him #1 overall? We would have the most talented front line in basketball for years to come. Plus we would have Ricky, Allen, Jiri, West and Banks in the back court. We suddenly are the youngest and most exciting team in basketball.

I've watched a lot of UNC games this year and Marvin Williams is not the same type of player Shawn Marion is. Marion is naturally a SF. Marvin Williams can play SF, but he is naturally a PF. Marion doesn't have the post game Marvin does, and Marvin doesn't have the perimeter game Marion does. You won't see Marvin Williams driving the lane and pulling up for a quick jumper the way Marion can. His body isn't built for that. He doesn't have the quick body movements like a true wing player. And even though he can hit the open perimeter shots, he's not a perimeter player per se.
But I can see us using Marvin Williams as a SF and making us a Big team. That would be incredible.
Imagine if we rob UNC of their players and draft Marvin Williams, Rashad McCants, and Raymond Felton. Join them up with Perkins and Jefferson--we'd have the most talented team out there. There is no stopping that team.

I think in the NBA he'll be a SF, maybe Im wrong though. He seems like the type of guy that can play all 5 positions if he wants too.. In college it probably appears that way because he is going against smaller quicker guys?

Well, it may be that, but he's also not a good enough ball handler to be a SF, nor does he have the perimeter game to be a SF. I don't see Marvin Williams coming off of screens to pop a jumper or running the floor on a fast break the way SF's do. His game is suited for the post and not the perimeter. If you read the scouting reports from last year, you'll see that they rave about his post skills, and that's what he brings. He'll spot up for three pointers, but that really is just a bonus to his post game.

One player not on the radar yet is Uconn's Marvin Williams. Over shadowed by the future draft picks - J Boone, and Charlie V, has had a terrific season. Been averaging 7-8 assists a game, including 16 vs. ND. Has good size for a point guard, 6'3 and is only soph.

I have really taken a liking to this heady PG. He's in a tough spot for us though. He's not special enough to merit taking him ahead of guys like Felton, Paul, or Jack--nor is he a better fit for our backup spot compared to guys like Dee Brown. But I like him nonetheless and if there aren't any better options, I'd take a flyer on him.

Derren, What is your opinion of Maine born Nick Caner-Medley?
Lot of solid play from the sophomore. I think his game is alot like Raef's, with better post presence.

Question (Harris): Derren, What is your opinion of Maine born Nick Caner-Medley?
Lot of solid play from the sop(censored)re. I think his game is alot like Raef's, with better post presence.
I got to see Caner-Medley play yesterday, and I thought to myself that this guy is like a young Raef LaFrentz, just like what you said. Even the way they shoot. He's a guy who can get hot and shoot the ball from any spot on the court--but the trouble is getting open to get off his shot. In the NBA, where guys his size will be twice as quick as compared to the college game, he won't be able to just rely on his jumper. If he could, guys like Trajon Langdon would be more effective. I didn't get to see if he has other offensive skills other than shooting, but for now, my comment is that we don't really need a guy like Caner--Medley on the team. There are many better athletes we can choose from in the draft.

i wouldnt want him on the C's. We already have enough finesse bigs.
Just wanted to get your thoughts. It's rare to see a Maine high schooler go to a big time program and perform like he is.

I like Torrin Francis a lot. This kid is a silent killer. He don't ask for much, but he gets his job done without needing to be told to do so. Seems like a self-starter like Perkins and Jefferson.
He's not going to be a big name guy, but I see him as a pretty valuable bench guy. A good 7th or 8th man on a strong team.

Question (CF00): What do you think about Austin Ainge? Yes thats right
I think his dad is a fantastic Head of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics ;D
Austin is actually a pretty fun player to watch. There's no chance he gets drafted, but watching him play for BYU is like watching the older Ainge--a guy playing at full speed and hitting tough shots. What I was particularly impressed with is his spin move on the dribble. He could be running at full speed, but Austin can spin on a dime and keep his momentum going forward and control the ball. He has a pretty solid shooting stroke. Reminds me of an out of control JJ Red-ick.
BTW, Danny also has a nephew who's a quarterback for some college, right?

Take a look at NBADraft.net
Boone is off the list for the 2005 draft. Gay, and Charlie V were never on the 2005 board, but slated for the 2006 board.
