Welcome Wilt! Good points on rebounding and positioning.
What may also help us in the short run is that Ratliff apparently feels good (I read it in the Globe or Herald) and is playing for his next contract -- so you know he'll drag his body out there and protect the rim as best he can. If his body holds up, we may already have our veteran big right under our noses.

Amazing how a player signs a contract, mails it in for the years, then has a career season during the contract year.

No wonder the players love free agency.
Great example is A-Rod he got his 10yr 252 contract and has been a very good player throughout the life of it, winning 2 MVPs during the first 7 1/2+ years, but now that he can opt out, he is putting up amazing numbers.
There is nothing like playing for your next contract,

Can we really fault these guys asking for bigger contracts?
If I had the opportuny to make more money then by all means i'm going to do everything in my power to earned or get it. BTW, A-Rod is a bad example as he put up good numbers almost every year. It takes 9 players to make a team in Baseball. I don't fault all of yankees failures on one-player. Besides that, if I was A-Rod and I had the opportunity to make 30 Mil per year then by all means i'll option out to get my bigger deal.
