If he isn't a 5, forget him.

Ak47 is more of a perimeter defender, he is almost strictly a SF, he isnt a guy like Josh Smith who can play the 2/3/4 almsot interchangeably.
Also if we cant make a move for a guy like Camby id be somewhat interested in making a move for a guy like Odom. I like how we are trying to maintain the new england feel with Allen and now Camby so why not go for Odom, he is a lot better than Cuttino Mobley.
If the Lakers deal for JO or KG, we can get in the deal and provide that expiring contract (Ratliff) to Minnesota.
Maybe it would end up being Ratliff Telfair Minnesota future first and maybe Powe for Odom?.
Rondo Allen Pierce Odom Jefferson
but we make sure atleast 3 of the 4 stars are on the floor as much as possible, and play Jefferson at most 15-20 minutes at the 5.

And it sounds like the reason behind his troubles the last couple of years is his dislike of playing small forward. So if we want him to play at an optimum level, we'd have to play him a PF.

Its always interesting to read about these rumors we are rumored to be involved in (Odom, KG, Dooling, etc.), but I'm nagged with the thought that without more help in the frontcourt, we aren't going to go far.
Perkins helps our rebounding and shot blocking. But when he's not on the court, our interior defense suffers.
Brandon Wallace could eventually help our perimeter defense, but we really need to get help in the frontcourt.
Joe Smith? He'll help our frontcourt depth, but he's not a standout defensive player. Camby? He'll be good, but it'll cost us Gerald to get him, plus he's probably good for only 60 games.

Here are the big men I can think of that are either restricted or unrestriced that maybe could help.
Varejo PJ Brown Sweetney (minimum?) Pollard Dale Davis Dikembe Tsakalidis Chris Mihm Brian Skinner Mikki Moore Marc Jackson Kelvin Cato Joe Smith Magloire Melvin Ely
Who do you want? We can afford some of these guys. At this point it's not about some great player it's about competency. I'd go for Mutumbo. Sell him on getting a ring and being an hour closer to Africa by jet on the east coast. Then I'd call Mikki Moore's agent and say "He can't want more than 3 mill right? I mean Perk makes 4".
I'd also make calls about Biedrins, David Lee, and Tyson Chandler to see if teams are dumb enough to trade them for GGreen.

I dont see any bigs out there worth committing multiple years to in free agency. I'd rather roll with a vet minimum player like Pollard or Brown.

Not a very enticing list of names there, huh? Anyone know if there are any solid defensive big men in Europe we can bring over?

Word on the grapevine is that he's been dominating the sunday night open gym at the Parliment, and he is looking forward to moving to the states to play against better competition.

Starting to think that the celtics have no intention of dipping into the free agent pool.So would not be surprised that unless they make trades what you see is what you get.

Not the year to go after a free-agent.

Not the year to go after a free-agent. oh i absolutely agree. when a very average player like rashard lewis gets 126 million or whatever, then the market must be absolutely horrid.

I'm kinda content that this roster isn't going to see any major make over anytime soon. I think we should wait it out until the trading deadline in February possible trading for KG at a cheaper price.

We are basically 1 or 2 deals away from making some noise. I'd rather they be the right moves then rush things. If the Cs go into the season with their current roster we are probably a .500 to slightly better than .500 team. We can afford to wait, that's the good thing, but it would be good to have things in place somewhat, and get the C's playing together instead of constant roster shuffling. Garnett isn't getting any younger. Plus we are pretty weak at backup pg right now and at Center. I'd like to see them at least make a move for SJ or something to at least solidify the pg spot, and then let the Ratliff thing play itself out.

i've seen conflicting statements: Is David 6'9", or 6'7"? if the former, he is about as tall as AJ. if the latter, he's a tad shorter than powe. If the former, I think it very reasonable for him to be a part of the rotation this year. If the latter, I'm less sure. Fofr each Wes Unself, there are many Brandon Hunters.
