I was thinking something similar Derren, but not in the starting lineup. I am at the point now where since Al has been soundly beaten out so far by Gomes going all the way back to summer league and since we don't know what we have in Powe maybe Al should be placed 3rd string pf on the depth chart just to see if we start winning games.

Since Doc seems to be going for a small, quick lineup, what do you guys think of this lineup:
C- Jefferson PF- Gomes SF- Gerald SG- Pierce PG- Telfair
I know you guys are thinking,"what about Perk and Rajon?" Very valid points and I'll explain. I like Rajon as much as the next guy and he honestly does deserve to be in the starting lineup. Whether he's in the starting lineup or coming off the bench, he will get a lot of playing time (Doc will use the 2 PG attack quite a bit). But the biggest part for him coming off the bench is because he can make an impact as a 6th man. He can instantly come in and change the tempo, attack the basket, and harrass opposing PG's. Sebastian won't hurt us in the starting lineup and he doesn't make quite the impact that Rajon can.
As for Perk, in this scenario, he may be coming off the bench because Doc wants speed and athleticism. And talking about impact off the bench, Perk will be a punishing rebounder and shot blocker off the bench.
Look at the first wave of players who will be coming off the bench: Rajon, Perk, and Powe. Powe can be a strong rebounder off the bench as well. These 3 guys can leave their marks immediately.
Why would Doc use Gomes in the starting lineup? Because he can knock down 20 footers from the elbows, and he's excellent in getting in the seams and receiving passes for easy baskets. He's the type of unsung heroes who gives you the little things, like weakside rebounding. Doc mentioned that using Jefferson and Perkins together clogs the middle. But if he uses Gomes at PF, Ryan will allow Jefferson to work inside while he takes shots from the outside (and we know Doc likes to use his PF's this way).

I'm starting to lean towards Rondo coming off the bench, only because I don't want him to pick up bad habits. I'd rather him practice consistency and really show that he can show up night in and night out before he starts. Betting significant minutes off the bench would be a good place for him to start. I'd love to see Green start but I don't think he is ready yet.. I still think Wally should continue to be the starter until Green becomes an absolute monster.

I love the starting lineup you posted Derren of: Big AL Gomes Gerald Paul Telfair.
Too bad Doc will never go for it.
He WON'T play Gerald. This pre-season is very frustrating for me.
Gerald HAS to play ahead of Allen at this point.
I really beleive that Tony is not a part of our future. He will be traded with either a Scala, Theo of Wally to acquire a more prove big guy.
Rondo has been VERY impressive and will see at least 20-25 minutes a game in the near future.
I can't wait until Feb 27---I just got 2nd row seats on the floor for the Laker game.

I'm sure Doc will try this lineup, especially if he's finding small lineups to use.

my five:
Rondo Pierce Wally Al Perk
bench 1st unit: telfair, west, gomes,Ratcliff (when healthy) 2nd unit: Allen, Powe 3th unit: Green end of bench: scala, Olo, Jackson/Ray
I picked Al over Gomes cause we need a couple of shooters on the second unit as well. With PP & Wally, Al should get more room inside. Plus, on defense, a double wall of Al & Perk together with Pierce & Rondo waiting for steals is pretty good. Ratcliff (when healthy) has more experience in weakside defense so he could be more beneficial as a single "weakside" wall on the second unit. This lineup would give both units ballhandling, shooters, runners & shotblockers. A good mix, the second unit should not significantly weaken the team when they enter the field.

What do you guys think about this lineup:
C- Al PF- Powe SF- Pierce SG- Delonte PG- Rajon
Wally comes off the bench as a veteran scorer because Delonte is quicker and gives us an additional ball handler on the floor. I like the 2 PG attack, but having good shooters on the floor is a big advantage.
I actually favor Rajon coming off the bench, not because he doesn't deserve to be starting because he certainly does. I like him off the bench because he changes the game and gives us a big boost of speed and defense and I like that change of pace.

I think it would be best if the Cs could see each other like the Patriots see each other... interchangeable parts. A team. One soul. Everyone gets minutes. Everyone plays. Everyone competes. Go with the hot hand. Beat other teams. Kind of like that Gators video at the beginning of the Florida 2 post. Clearly a team of players that love each other and trust each other. Every lineup looks as good to me as every other if they are winning. it's only Doc I'm really worried about.
