Its easy to predict our starting lineup a day before the season starts, but it takes professional insight and a sharp basketball mind to predict our starting lineup a week before training camp starts.
Let's see who really knows what they are talking about. I'll keep this thread stickied until tip off opening day, so make your roster changes by Nov. 2nd.
Derren's '06 - '07 starting lineup
C- Ratliff PF- Jefferson SF- Pierce SG- Wally PG- Telfair
In a surprising move, Doc starts Ratliff over Perkins. Rivers will not be able to resist the temptation to use a veteran over a young guy. But this does not mean Perkins will end the season coming off the bench. Perk may take over for Ratliff if an injury occurs or once Perk demonstrates to Doc how important a bruising and enforcing presence is in the starting rotation.
I'd prefer starting Tony Allen over Wally Szczerbiak, just because I think Tony's defense and slashing ability will initiate a more faster tempo. But like Perkins, Tony will have to sit in favor of the veteran Wally.
Jefferson starts because he'll prove that his post offense is crucial for our success.
Telfair starts over Delonte because, in all honesty, Delonte does not hold a candle to Telfair's court vision, passing ability and speed.
And of course, Pierce starts.

Perk Al Wally Pierce PG is still up in the air to me. But Im sure I'll pick up on Doc's brainwaves shortly and have an answer for you guys. As some of you may recall, I was the one who predicted that Blount would be starting opening tip of last year. Hey folks, the cant all be good predictions. I can only tell the truth, not what you want to hear.

I say Pierce Wally Perk Jefferson Telfair
Although the PF and PG positions are up in the air for me. Gomes or West could be the starters.

Opening nite I think should be
Perk (or possibly Ratliff or DJones. Whoever isn't hurt) Gomes PP Wally DWest
I think it will be
Perk Al PP Wally Sebass
Midseason I would expect it to be
Perk Al or Gomes. Whoever improves the most PP Wally or possibly GG Sebass, Delonte, or Rondo, but probably not Rondo. Whoever has the best a/to ratio, fg%, rebounding, and defense. Especially a/to ratio and defense. I think Delonte could win 3 of those but will be hard pressed on a/to ratio)

Hey everyone, haven't posted in a while, but with the season approaching, I figured it's time to start chiming in again. My predictions on the starters are as follows:
Pg - Delonte sg - Wally sf - Pierce pf - Gomes C - Ratliff
Doc will continue going with Delonte at the point because Rondo isn't ready yet, and until I see Telfair play, I cannot predict he will start. The wing positions are pretty self explanatory condering they are the two best players on team. The reason I have Gomes starting over Jefferson is because at this point is he simply the better player, even if a bit undersized. Ratliff starts at center because they will want his defensive presence in the game to help Gomes when teams with bigger power forwards begin pounding the ball inside to take advantage of the mismatch. However, I do believe that Perk and Ratliff will play an equal amount of minutes.
Of course all of these predictions are based on Ainge keeping the team intact throughout October. I know it's very close, but with Ainge.....one never knows. You know he's itching to make a deal after a rather inactive summer.

Nope, I'm passed jumping on the couch, Esco. Right now, I'm running through my neighbor's yard in my Celtics boxers.
Hey, good to hear from you GreenBlood. Hope to see a lot of you this season. I think once you see Telfair, you'll agree that his court vision and passing ability are above Delonte's level, and that's the reason why we'll see a noticeable difference when Telfair is on the court. I also have this feeling that Perkins will split time with Ratliff. Though I do think Perkins deserves more playing time because of his ability to clear space in the paint.
Gomes has an advantage over Jefferson in that he can step back further from the basket and drain 20 footers. Al does not have this. But once he's on track, Jefferson is the better player. Gomes is a solid player indeed, and he could be starting for a lot of teams out there. But we have a star caliber PF in Jefferson and the starting spot is going to be his. We have only begun to see the damage he can do.

roster:
starters: telfair sczcerbiak pierce jefferson perkins
bench west allen green gomes ratliff
making the 12 man roster: rondo scalabrine (i know, i know, hate him too but doc will probably have to play him to get rid of him)
a couple of additional thoughts: i think allen should replace sczcerbiak in the starting lineup at some point of the season. the main reason is that our perimeter defense is too suspect otherwise and we have enugh offensive weapons anyway. and it's not like tony is a dud in the offense either
we will see a trde in the season. i have no idea who will be gone. probably we can start guessing come november after the rotations are starting to settle in place
powe should replace the breasted one in the roster soon...

Right BC. I also think Allen is a better fit in the starting lineup. Along with his defense, he adds that fastbreaking element to pair with Sebastian. And his athleticism and slashing ability will also give us an added dimension.
I think Ainge is still looking to make a trade. Maybe not to get a superstar like it sounded like he was going after early this offseason, but a trade to loosen our roster size and get a player who can help us out now and in the future.

Hi fellow C's fans, Great to see everybody back, for what I think will be a very exciting year for us. 2006, the year we turned the corner and started closing in on # 17. Hope you all had a great offseason.
C-Perk PF-Al SF-Wally SG-PP PG-Delonte West
Thats myine for starting lineup of the openiing game. Regardless, we have what looks like a roster of fun and exciting , competitive players, all of whom appear to be men of heart and god character. Really looking forward to the season, and congratulations to Danny for assembling this roster in such a short span of time, especiaaly considering what he started with. Anyway looking forward to sharing the season with you all. Rick

Glad to have you back in the fold, Rick. How was your offseason?
So far, we seem to be split as to who our starting PG will be at the start of the season. 5 of us have voted for Sebastian, while the other 5 have chosen Delonte.
Given that Delonte was the starter last season, thus giving him an early edge in terms of knowing the tendencies of the players he's working with, he could very well be the guy who Doc calls upon to run the show on opening day.
But from what was said, Ainge and Rivers have stressed the desire to be an efficient running team and have a PG who can penetrate into the paint regularly. In the offseason, Ainge goes out and gets Telfair and Rajon, 2 PG's who fit the mold much better for the type of offense they want to run. This tells me that they want to use a PG other than Delonte--not that he isn't a good player (Ainge speaks highly of him). He's just not the PG we need.
How quickly either Telfair or Rajon adapt to their new players and system will determine if one of them will start the season in the starting lineup. And since Telfair already has 2 years of experience in the NBA, he should have an advantage over Rajon early on.
If none of these 2 guys can step it up and show that they are ready to run our team, than Delonte will be our man. Its good that we have a solid fall back option to go to.

Pg: Telfair, benefits from West's back woes. S.F. Gomes. Doc has revelation and saves Wally for when it matters. C. Perkins. Are you going to tell him he's going back to the bench? P.F. Big AL/ Little Al, he's too talented to sit if healthy. S.G. "The Wolverine." Pierce comes out with a vengence. Snubbed for the world championships and inspired by the wizardry of Telfair, Paul becomes "all that."
