Draft day is here!! Seems a bit odd to be excited seeing how we "currently" only have the 53rd pick. But there's talk that Brad is trying to get into the first round. But not only that but there could be a serviceable player at 53 as well.

Draft day is always fun, but it's more fun when we have a first round pick or two. I hope Brad can swing a deal to get us a [HASH]1.
There's been talk of going back to allowing guys to be draft-eligible right out of HS. Anyone heard an update on that? What year it might happen?

Right, I haven't heard anything at all.
I'd like to be able to draft a player and have his right, even if he still wants to continue to play in college after being drafted.

This year is a lot different because we do not have a first round pick. But it'll still be fun to do a mock draft challenge (let's do a top 10 challenge).
1. ORL - Jabari Smith 2. OKC - Paolo Banchero 3. HOU - Jaden Ivey 4. SAC - Chet Holmgren 5. DET - Keegan Murray 6. IND - Benedict Mathurin 7. POR - Dyson Daniels 8. NOR - Shaedon Sharpe 9. SA - Ousmane Dieng 10. WAS - Jalen Duran

And we mustn't forget that Bruce Brown and Ben Wallace went undrafted.
Heck, Mike Piazza was drafted in the last round (62nd) and as a favor by Tommy Lasorda to Piazza's father. Piazza returned the favor by being not only the Dodgers' greatest catcher, but one of the all time greatest offensive catchers inMLB history (lifetime .308, 427 homers, 12 time All Star, 10 time Silver Slugger).
Here's to us picking up a future Hall of Famer tonight!!!

I tried to cram for this draft by watching the tourney the best I could and I am familiar with the Big Ten, but in general this is the year I know the absolute least about the draft. I know like 3 guys.

Just thinking here, but what was Ainge thinking when he drafted James Young? He was terrible, even at Kentucky. Or RJ Hunter? That guy is/was soft.
I can see the Yabusele and the Jared Sullinger picks because they were talented -- it was just that their hunger cravings overpowered their will.

I tried to cram for this draft by watching the tourney the best I could and I am familiar with the Big Ten, but in general this is the year I know the absolute least about the draft. I know like 3 guys. Ok, with what you know, how do you mock this draft? I don't know enough about these players or teams to mock anything. I'll just throw out what I think I think. Chet Holmgren gets way overdrafted. Keegan Murray is the real deal. Jaden Ivey is not. Mark Williams of Duke is a legit prospect. Ron Harper Jr in the 2nd round is a deal. Freshman being mocked at pick 52 strikes me as bizarre. Isiah Brockington of Iowa St not being mocked is a surprise to me. You could do way worse than John Harrar of PSU with the last pick. I didn't realize Brady Manek is 24 years old. Also not a single kid from this year's Cinderella (St. Peter's) was mocked. I feel like the tourney these days largely has nothing whatsoever to do with the draft. Nowhere near what it used to be. I think the draft these days is not that different from the old days when they could draft straight of high school. The one whole year helps the scouts fine tune a little. But if you've actually watched them play would you really be that surprised if Drew Time of Gonzaga has a way better NBA career than Chet Holmgren? I expect Chet to be hurt a lot. If Shawn Bradley was 6 inches shorter, had way better handles and could shoot from outside I still don't think you have that good a player and I just didn't see anything in the tourney that blew me away at all. I never thought to myself "Oh wow. That kid can play." The UNC and Duke kids showed me that. And the Arkansas kids. And maybe Kansas.

Ok Paolo Banchero's suit is the strangest draft suit of all time.

Jay Bilas just called Chet Holmgren a baby Giannis and I just can't even. Bilas shouldn't have done that. I'm big on Holmgren, but you can't comp him to Giannis. But you watch, Chet is going to impress.

Orlando taking Banchero gives them a good frontcourt. Wendell Carter Jr. is their defensive anchor, letting Banchero be that offensive workhorse. And with Franz Wagner at the 3, the have good size and production at the 3, 4 and 5.
