My expectations of Green are to adjust to the NBA, and to develop as an NBA player. Year 1. I see the NDBL as an opportunity for him to prove that he belongs in games.

I'd like to hope so. He's been playing against some pretty good players in our practice (w/ the Celtics) so hopefully he's picked up on some stuff.

Not much, but from today's Herald: Ainge is enjoying his time with Gerald Green in the D league. “Fayetteville (N.C.) is a small town,” he said. “They’ve got a nice facility. “Gerald’s had couple of practices and he’s looked good. He scrimmaged and looked very good. I think he’s really excited just to get the chance to play in a game (Sunday will be his first). “I think he was apprehensive at first about coming down, but now that he knows what to expect he’s getting into it and he’s anxious to play.”

I say he drops 24 points, with at least one spectacular breakaway dunk.
Think about it, he's probably one of the youngest players in the NBDL, but out of all of the players down there, he's gotta be practically the most talented.

From Celtics.com Notebook today:
Rivers said he called Gerald Green in Fayetteville Wednesday night, and that for the first few minutes of the conversation, Green didn't realize with whom he was on the phone. After revealing his identity, Doc got a quick update on his progress. Green told him that he needed to keep working on his defense, to which Rivers said, "that means someone toasted him"…

How can anyone not recognize Rivers' voice? ;D
I wonder if Green said anything to Rivers that he may want to take back?
"Nah, I'm only down here because of my lame coach. He won't even put me in any of the games, no matter how bad the team looks. Wait, who is this?"

Green adjusts to minor move By Shira Springer, Globe Staff | January 13, 2006
WALTHAM -- Gerald Green is taking his assignment to Fayetteville of the Development League in stride and making the most of the opportunity, said coach Doc Rivers, who spoke to the rookie by phone Wednesday. That was the good news. The bad news? According to Rivers, it took Green about 90 seconds to recognize who was on the phone.
''I'm hoping he becomes a superstar and we can play him right away, but I'm realistic, too," said Rivers. ''I talked to him [Wednesday] night. He was upbeat. He was doing well. He didn't realize it was me, I don't think, for the first minute and a half of the conversation. That was a little scary. He was talking away. Then, I said, 'You know, this is Doc.'
''He said, 'Doc?' I said, 'Yeah.' He said, 'Hey, Coach.' Then, he said, 'I've got to keep working on my defense.' So, that tells me someone toasted him. That's usually what happens when a guy tells you that. But he says he likes the fact that he's out on the floor."

I guess that's not bad for his first real game in over 2 months.
Thanks for the update, FL12.

Another Article on Green and the DLeague sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2006/01/15/SPG3RGNOHI1.DTL&type=printableIt wasn't easy being Green with the Celtics - Janny Hu Sunday, January 15, 2006 The NBA Development League received its biggest boost last week when Boston dropped Gerald Green into its lap. Here came Green, the heralded but hardly used rookie, just in time for the D-League's premier event. The Martin Luther King Jr. Showcase takes place today and Monday at the Crown Coliseum in South Carolina. More than 50 NBA scouts are expected to attend, with NBA TV televising all the games on a tape-delayed basis. Mostly, the event is a chance to pump up the D-League and for wannabe NBA players to impress a few scouts. But for Green, it also brings the chance to finally get some playing time. Just last month, the rookie sat at his locker stall in Boston and reflected on his jump from high school to the pros. He went from being a heavily hyped draftee to a forgotten rookie, from being the center of attention to a staple on the bench. "It's difficult," Green said. "You're all alone, especially coming out of high school. You're used to always playing and now you're not playing at all. "In high school, it's a lot different. You go out there and just play. (Here), you have to learn the rotations, learn the defensive schemes of the game, the offensive schemes of the game." The lack of playing time is why the Celtics finally sent Green to the minors, though not to their affiliated team. The Florida Flame had a logjam at his position, so Green was directed to the Fayetteville Patriots. Celtics chief Danny Ainge accompanied Green to South Carolina and plans to stay until Green makes his debut today. The rookie was hoping to avoid a stint in the minors -- Green said he was becoming a better player simply by practicing against Paul Pierce and Ricky Davis -- but his fate represents a choice all NBA executives are facing. Are their youngsters better served learning by osmosis in the NBA, or by actually playing in the minors? "I don't know enough about the whole thing to know what playing would do," Warriors coach Mike Montgomery said. "It's important for them to be with us. I think we need to teach them as much as we can, learn from the older players how to be a pro." The Celtics seem to have made the best of their situation. Fayetteville coach Mike Brown, who arrived in Phoenix shortly after Ainge retired from the Suns as a player, is doing his part to make Green's stay productive. He's already phoned Ainge and asked if there were any offensive sets he could install for Green. Green is the 14th player to be assigned to the D-League and the lone first-rounder. Of those sent down, only three have been recalled by their NBA teams. The Suns' Dijon Thompson, Minnesota's Bracey Wright and Washington's Andray Blatche have made the roundtrip. All were second-rounds picks in last summer's draft. Miami just sent forward Dorrell Wright and center Earl Barron to the Florida Flame. Utah's C.J. Miles and Washington's John Peter Ramos are among those currently in the minors. Conversely, a few undrafted players have earned a ticket into the NBA. The Rockets twice have called on guard John Lucas III and the Clippers signed Kaniel Dickens to a 10-day contract Thursday. Houston coach Jeff Van Gundy, despite his good experience with Lucas, still isn't sure if the D-League is the best destination for young players. His lone rookie, Luther Head, didn't figure to see much action this season, but has averaged nearly 30 minutes a game because of the Rockets' extensive injury problems. The way Van Gundy sees it, players are too often deluded into thinking they can make a big splash once they are called up, when the reality is that most teams merely need an extra body for practice. Preferably, someone who won't screw up things. It sounds harsh, but Lucas said he understands his role. The son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas has only good things to say about the D-League, despite joining the masses on commercial planes and enduring 8-hour bus rides to games. "I'm not complaining," Lucas said. "It was a great experience." Green is hoping for a similar run. Fayetteville is a long ways from Boston, but the best destination for minutes.
