I looked up his injury, hip edema (which formally is called transient osteoporosis) and found this:
"Transient osteoporosis of the hip is a rare condition that causes temporary bone loss in the upper portion of the thighbone (femur).
People with transient osteoporosis of the hip will experience a sudden onset of pain that intensifies with walking or other weight-bearing activities. In many cases, the pain increases over time and may become disabling.
Painful symptoms gradually subside and usually end within 6 to 12 months. Bone strength in the hip also returns to normal in most people."
Based on that, could we be looking at up to 6-12 months? Obviously it depends on the specific case, but jeez, I had no idea.

Tough break. Getting back up to speed will be the difficult part.

Kyle Draper
@kyledrapertv · 16m Robert Williams tells me he went through his first on court pregame workout. Says he ready to go and there’s no pain in the hip. He came into the locker room letting out loud screams. [HASH]nba

Geez, we might actually have our full top 12 dress for the same game soon.

During Rob’s time off because of his hip injury, he worked with the coaches (and even sought mentoring from Brad Wanamaker) to learn where to he defensively.
It looks like he has learned a lot. First off, Rob has become proactive (whereas he used to be reactive). Secondly, he’s engaged, trying to think and stay one play ahead, he keeps his feet moving, and sprints back and forth to cover ground. He’s like a different man.
My hope in him that he could be our starting Center is solidifying.

Am I off my rocker if I think that RWill is our Bam Adebayo?

Perk is making the case that part of Tristan Thompson being here is holding R Will accountable. R Will has to make the most of his minutes now

Robert played well tonight, especially on the defensive end where he had 2 blocks and 4 steals. He even hit an 18' shot from behind the foul line - which I don't remember seeing before. Good to see him in there down the stretch.

Good to see him in there down the stretch. And you can still see he’s having trouble combining defensive assignments and his natural instincts. When he meshes the two, he’ll be a defensive force.

I bring this up again because from the eye test it appears RWill is starting to get it.
Is he potentially our starting Center?
Recently he’s had a 10 rebound game and a 15 rebound game (both in undet 25 minutes) and his total rebound percentage is greater than 22%, which is tremendous. Small sample size of course. But if given 20+ mpg, Rob can average 10 a game.
