I'm liking this year's draft because of players who have a lower ceiling and higher floor (less bust potential, but less All-Star potential as well).
I was semi hoping we'd get Memphis' pick this year because I think we need that solid, dependable role player type.
I'm with you on Carsen Edwards -- thanks for bringing him to my attention.

It's funny. I go hot and cold with guys who are great college scorers. Many are busts in the pros (Adam Morrison), and some look like it at first but keep working and become solid NBA players (Reddick). I think Edwards can be a very good NBA player. He can penetrate and finish strong, has great range from outside, seems to see the court and pass well, plays D and has a great motor. He's fierce. I bet Danny loves this guy. for anyone interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKcIrMaOWeE

I like his energy. Plus, he’s a Boilmaker, and Coach Brad needs more guys from the state of Indiana 😜

Wow, looks like Memphis did it — they’re the 9th worst team, making it most likely we are getting their pick this summer. Still gotta wait to see how the lottery goes.
But odds are we are getting the #9 pick.
In addition, we’re getting Sacramento’s #13, the Clippers’ #18, and our own pick at 22.

Here's an interesting thought I heard today: Apparently the NBA will likely return to allowing players to enter the league directly from HS in the 2021 draft. They're calling it a double draft since it'll have the guys who would have been lottery picks in 2021 AND 2022 - making 2021 picks extra valuable.
With us having 3 picks this year, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Danny rolls one of them over to 2021. Unless of course he empties the cupboard for AD.

I’m on the fence about Kevin Porter. This young kid has excellent physical tools and lots of translatable basketball skills (shoot, dribble, pass). He also has some flair in his game.
But he’s got red flags off the court, and maybe some character issues that could very well cause him not to be picked in the lottery.
Do we take a flyer at 14? Skill wise, I’d say he’s more polished than either Jaylen and Rozier right now. But is he going to kill our lockerroom? Is he a bad apple? We’ve had Marcus Morris, who’s not known for being a standout citizen, and so far it hasn’t backfired.

I don't know the history, but Morris has been more than fine with us. Sometimes I think guys get a bad rap. Like DJ back in the 80's before he came to Boston.

I read there’s a rumor that we gave a promise to Jalen Lecque, which is why he dropped out of the combine.
Highly athletic combo guard. He’s a no nonsense player (which is the kind of attitude I like). Looks to have a capable jumper, but because he didn’t play for a college, it is hard to tell how he fares against higher level competition.

PJ Washington has crept onto my radar. Wasn't thrilled about him last year (as a frosh), even though he received more hype than this year. But the transformation he's made to his body, his game, and even his mindset (seems more game ready and aggressive), have all benefitted his draft status.
He's 6'8" and has a similar build to Mook -- but whereas Morris likes his jumpshot (too much), PJ operates down low at a more frequent rate.
This year, Washington shot the 3s at a 42% clip, compared to last year's 23% (he massively improved in this area, and he looks fairly comfortable and confident shooting it).
Excellent rebounder, good hands, has some explosiveness.
Overall, he's in consideration for my pick at 14.

The Knicks might be shopping the third pick.
Zion is the prize for me, and I think Ja Morant is at least an equivalent talent to DeAaron Fox (though likely better). Outside of those 2, I don't see a clear favorite to be a star player -- not RJ Barrett, not Cam Reddish, etc..
But depends on what they're asking for that 3rd pick, I may be interested. Like, I'd consider swapping our Memphis pick with them (which has the position to be a number 2 next year, or first overall pick in 2021).
With the 3rd pick, I'd likely take DeAndre Hunter. I just really like his all around game.

Dylan Windler will be coming in for another workout (by my count, this will be the 27th time he’s worked out for us in the last 3 days). To say the least, we have interest in him. Also working out Nassir Little.

My prediction if we keep all 3 first round picks:
[HASH]14 Tyler Herro. Apparently he wowed the C's by hitting 80-100 3's in his workout with us.
[HASH]20 Matisse Thybulle. 3 and D. Really good D. I saw a quote that he'd immediately be a top 20 defender in the league as a rookie.
[HASH]22 Goga Bitadze. Bol is intriguing, but foot problems in college are a huge red flag.

Talk is Danny will try to package the picks and move up?
In your scenario, I see Goga going 14, Herro at 20 and Thybulle at 22.

I was just reading that Woj has reported that the Celtics don't want 3 rookies on the team next year, so if we don't package some to move up, we may trade one or more for picks in future years. "NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has made clear he thinks the one-and-done rule is no longer good policy, and he said Thursday at an event in Washington that the 2022 draft probably will allow the best high school players to jump straight into the NBA rather than playing a single season of college before turning pro." www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/05/09/nba-commissioner-adam-silver-days-one-and-done-players-will-be-over-soon/?utm_term=.d5f0c16868dcThis would make 2022 draft picks doubly valuable since it would include players that would otherwise have been spread across 2022 and 2023.
