And that's why Danny is so good at what he does. He eliminates emotion from his efforts to improve the team. Anyone can do the easy thing (keeping the overall [HASH]1 or keeping IT). Danny does the hard thing. I don't think he's heartless. He just recognizes that if he wants to do the best job possible, sometimes feelings are going to be hurt. IT will be OK.

Definitely not a big fan of giving up on the Net's pick without adding any type of protection on it but, it may be the different on making a deal. Personally, I knew if this trade was going to happen, I was hoping we did not want to give up Brown/Tatum as I felt both of those players have a bright future and could possibly be the next string of young players to step up in this league to be next line stardom. At least from that prospective, I'm glad Danny did not give them up in this trade. Obviously, trading IT is a huge emotional undertaking as the little guy really love playing for this franchise and he really step up his game ever since we traded for him few years back. Crowder/Zizic were good depth players but, we already have plenty of spare players whom can take care of their minutes.
Hopefully Kyrie can be the player that we hope he can be in this league. I fully expect him to reach the next echelon of PG superstars that are taking over this league i.e. Curry/Harden/Westbrook. Ainge has given him the car keys. Now, will he step up to be the next superstar that this franchise desperately need? Only time will tell.

I've been up and down on this one boys... Funny I heard the news break while watching the Red Sox! The Red Sox reported on something that would get you to change the channel? Amazing! I switched to Comcast Sports Net, but ultimately I needed the Internet as I couldn't listen to the staff that was on TV at that time.
I love IT in the regular season, but he can certainly be a problem come playoff time as we have seen on more than one occasion. I'd never question his heart of effort, but not being well rounded on the other end of the court removes him from being a max guy. Also I think Bron Bron can help make up for his lack of D, as he can be all over the court when he wants too.
My biggest scare his Kyrie going days without speaking to players during the finals. Although I heard a different player state he didnt talk to one player on the team. Is that Lebron, or is that any one player? Or was the word One like one single player... Its hard to understand.
Well lets hope this team scores big, cause i'm not sure about the Defense!
I gotta say returning only 4 players from last year seems crazy, but we have added some good talent in the off season.

This trade may have been done long ago if Ainge would have given up Tatum (got this off of RealGM):
The Boston Celtics were able to acquire Kyrie Irving without sending back any of their young core players to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland sought the inclusion of Jayson Tatum in the deal, which led to the talks lasting for several weeks before they agreed upon a deal of Irving for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and Brooklyn's 2018 first round pick.
"The big discussion point with Boston and Cleveland over the past several weeks on a potential deal has always been about Jayson Tatum's involvement," said Shams Charania on NBATV. "The Cavaliers coveted him greatly. I think if Tatum was involved the first day these talks transpired, this deal would have been done weeks ago.
"Boston held firm. (Tatum), Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart: these guys are the future for the Celtics. They've obviously been pairing these younger guys with Al Horford, Gordon Hayward, and now you're bringing in Kyrie Irving.
"So that was the real sticking point.
"These discussions have been going on ever since Kyrie Irving made this trade demand. The major sticking point was Tatum and Boston was able to get the man they wanted for weeks without giving up Tatum, Jaylen Brown or Marcus Smart.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, this tells us much about Danny's assessment of the BRK pick. He was willing to surrender it for Kyrie, and he values Tatum higher than the pick.

Chris Broussard said some of the Celtics' players weren't fond of IT.
Take it with a grain of salt because no Celtic player was named, so we don't know for sure. But interesting if true, cause I was under the impression that everyone loves IT.

I've never heard that, but the whole looking at the wrist in the fourth quarter thing had gotten old for me. It was too much "me" for my taste. I don't want to start ragging on the guy after he leaves. I'm just saying that if this is true it wouldn't shock me.

Ironically, in two seperate trades, Danny trades the NBA's best ball on ball defender, for the best ISO player. I am interested in seeing the schemes Stevens can put together for Irving, because CLE coaches basically had Irving do his own thing.

According to Kevin McHale, Danny really loves Kyrie's game, and thinks he (Kyrie) has greatness written all over him. Let's hope Danny is right and Kyrie goes out and puts up MVP type numbers as we roll passed everyone on our way to the Finals.

I don't like Chris Broussard who first posted that report that other players didn't like IT. Since that report several players including Olynyk and Sully have come out and said that it was ridiculous and not to believe it.

I know the trade has to have hit IT hard, and I don't blame him, but for a long time, going back at least to last summer when they were recruiting Horford and Durant, I thought IT was overly confident that he was here for the long term when he talked about "what we're building here". It made me wince a little because I had a feeling it could go down this way, and he'd be blindsided by it. It's unfortunate. He gave his all, and maybe you could say he deserved better, except that teams and players both do what is in their own self-interest, and sometimes fans (Jazz) or players (IT) get hurt. Can't feel too bad for him though. In the big picture he's making millions playing basketball.

If Danny Ainge believe that Kyrie's is going to be the next great player in this league, by all means I prefer the GM make that aggressive move to get the player he want rather than be passive GM that never make those critical moves. Being buddies with your personnel does not get you anywhere especially if hinder making improvements to this roster that could possibly take you to the next level. Yes, it could easily blow up in his face but, I rather him fail trying to to make the team a true contender rather than the Celtics sitting pretty and be a team that get knock out of the playoffs early every year.

Danny is truly a GM who is not afraid of making moves that most GM's don't have the guts to make. He's not even deterred if a move causes the entire city of Boston to call for his head. And that's one of the reasons why I like him. He's been in 2 rebuilds, and successfully navigated the first one to a championship, and is on his way towards another one.

A lot of radio personalities seem to think IT is pissed. I wonder if he's more pissed or hurt/disappointed. I think it's more the latter, but it could be a little of both.
