Adam Kaufman says that he is hearing that the Celtics offer for George is LAL/SAC pick from PHI, '19 MEM OR LAC pick, Crowder, $$ filler (Possibly Bradley or Zeller if they hang onto him beyond July2). Well if that's the case we must just be going for PG13 because we wouldn't have any cap room to get Gordon Hayward. That deal would put us at about 80 mill in guaranteed contracts, which is not even close to what we'd need to sign GH. We need that number to be around 68-70 mill.

I don't like the idea at all of giving up top 5 picks but we can't exactly use them all per se. First of all that specific pick can't be [HASH]1 over all anyway. Next every one of those picks eventually gotta get to a next contract and there's only so many you can resign. Plus we have to resign IT as well. And there's Jaylen and Tatum and Smart and maybe Rozier. We're really lucky to have the picks to keep replenishing the roster. We can hopefully get something for them later.
Like instead of a guy like Jaylen getting to his 4th year and letting him get away for nothing trade him in his 3rd year if you need to.

By the time Jaylen and Jayson get to their second contract Horford's will be off the books, so that will help. But no one knows how all these guys will develop and who we'll want to keep.

No cap hold for Nader, so he could be part of the roster without impacting any sort of cap space for pursuit of other players.

He'll have strong market. Olynyk is also about to get very overpaid. Someone will see his 3point shooting and decide that he is a younger Ryan Anderson... and we know how much Anderson gets paid...well out of our price range. Some of the potential salaries i've read about for KO make absolutely no sense from the viewpoint of a Cs fan who actually watches him. 15 mil a year? No thanks

I'd rather give KO 15 than Amir 12, like he got last year

I'd rather give 5 mil to KO and 4.5 to Amir. In other words, I don't mind if neither are on the team next year. To me, Kelly hasn't been a net positive (though I guess analytics say differently). He's not tough, can't rebound, hesitates too much offensively, and is maddeningly inconsistent. And I don't think he'll get much better.

I'd have no problem give the MLE (aroumd 9-10) mill a year for KO. But yeah, 15 a year is a bit much.

I thought Amir for 12 two years ago was a deal. But not at all this last year

For me, it's time to move on from KO. By now he is what he is. I can't say I saw any improvement last year. His 7th game vs Wash will make him millions though. Someone will think they can get that out of him more consistently. And they will be wrong.

They gave Kelly the Qualifying offer and so he is a restricted FA. If someone overpays, the Celtics can just refuse to match. If he doesn't get big interest, he can accept the qualifying offer for another year. If the Celtics strike out on all sides, they can re-sign him. But, I don't see another team not offering to overpay him.

My bigger question is who will we jettison next year? Bradley or IT? Because we cant afford to pay them both what they're worth whilst still having Horford and one of either Hayward or George on the roster..

I don't see anyway around it unless you really want him to be your point guard for the future...I don't, but he also just finished 5th in MVP voting so he obviously can play. I just don't think he'd be a good starter on a championship team. He's great on an offensively anemic team that can afford to let him just run pick and rolls over and over again while spreading the floor. He'd need to turn into a sixth man real quick to stay and take sixth man money. Then again, if we get Hayward and George we'll get a good preview of what life is like with IT apart of a real offense and maybe he can prove me wrong.
