Stephen A Smith says (maybe he's speculating) that Philly is taking Josh Jackson at 1.
If true, the Lakers COULD go with Markelle Fultz at 2.
If that happens, I won't be surprised if Lonzo Ball is whom we end up taking. As crazy as his dad is, and as crazy as his shooting form looks, Lonzo has an amazing gift of passing the ball.

I imagine the fact that the Kings turned down 5+10 for 2 means that they wouldn't take 3 for 5+10.

Two highly ranked players who will see a semi slide are Josh Jackson and Jonathan Isaac. Usually a draft is based on BPA, however this draft seems to be based on need. Then again, everyone in the lottery needs something alot, which BOS does not.

A couple more tidbits from Twitter.
Dennis Smith Great impression 36 hours before the draft: Dennis Smith overslept today, blew off media session. It all matters (via Jeff Goodman on TV)
From what I've read and heard, didn't exactly get give off best vibes in NC State. Tatum Tatum also said the Celtics-76ers trade surprised him and that he was excited when the Celtics called for a workout.
Tatum says he watched film with Stevens and Ainge on Monday, a lot of his Duke clips.
Tatum said that after his session on Monday, he watched game film with Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and head coach Brad Stevens. “It was very beneficial,” he said. “There’s a lot I can learn. We just went over some of my offensive clips from Duke and some things Boston ran this past season.”
“[Stevens] said guys at my size and my position that are able to hit open shots and defend 1-4, it’s hard not to play those guys,” Tatum said.
Tatum said that the opportunity to play for a surging team like Boston as a rookie would be beneficial.
Tatum out of Duke is a guy to look out for next. He's got the physical superiority you saw in Brown. Step above his age class.
Jonathan Isaac add length, add minutes for guys that need rest, and be able to come in and not slack, not be the weak link, knock down open shots," Isaac said during Wednesday's draft media availability. "I think I can do a lot for any team, especially a playoff team like Boston."
Assuming Boston lands Gordon Hayward or Blake Griffin, Isaac—in the short-term—is the perfect complement for a group that may need the third pick to impact games without ever having his number called. Isaac is 6'11" with Draymond Green's wingspan, and has the ability to switch all screens, and easily finish above the rim.
Josh Jackson Josh Jackson on Celtics: "I see a lot of the players on their team are about the same things that I’m about...I love to win."
“A lot of people (say) we’re the same player or we play the same position, but playing with Jaylen would be pretty special,” Jackson said. “If you look at two of the best teams in the league, they’re playing three small forwards at the same time, sometimes even four. So, I don’t really see how people would think two guys like me and Jaylen playing together would be any type of issue at all.” “Jaylen, I think he’s a lot stronger than I am,” Jackson said. “He’s got a way better NBA body than me at the moment. I think I’m more of a guy who thrives in transition, and he’s more of a halfcourt guy. But I think we can really work together and do something special.”

admin.draftexpress.com/article/comparing-and-contrasting-the-prospects-of-tatum-jackson-and-isaac-6062/Mike Schmitz Verified account @mike_Schmitz 46m 46 minutes ago More Jonathan Isaac is the draft's most versatile defender, checking at least 1-4. How does he compare to Jackson/Tatum? This caught my attention because of what Brad Stevens said the other day - that a player that can guard 1-4 is hard to keep off the floor. Maybe that's what they are looking for as a priority. I always expect Danny to do something that nobody expected. Like I never saw Rozier on any of the mocks and that's who he came up with. Not many had Brown at 3 last year. I won't be surprised if he picks somebody no one thinks he will ..

That settles it, Jayson Tatum it is!!

I just get the feeling that Danny's going to do something that nobody expects him to.

I wonder which team he's trading with? Gotta be top 10 if he's thinking of grabbing Dennis Smith Jr.

NBA Trade Rumor: Celtics looking to move down again - targeting Dennis Smith Jr. One NBA exec told the Herald that Ainge would love to find a way to get North Carolina State point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who isn’t rated as high as the third overall pick. Another said the Celts were looking at perhaps moving down in the draft again and picking up another asset for their trouble.
This is really weird. Danny passes on the highest rated PG in years and moves down to take a PG that isn't near as good??? So much for the player he'd take at 1 is the same one he would take at 3.
Smith worked out for the Celtics prior to the draft. “It went very well,” he said Wednesday, via the Herald. “I got to meet Danny Ainge, and that was great. Ironically, the Lakers and Celtics rivalry, the 30 for 30, had just came out, so I had a little background with Danny Ainge going into the meeting. Danny Ainge was crazy back then, so I had some background info on him. In turn, our meeting went well. I knew something about him; he knew something about me.”

Does anyone else wonder how this NBA exec would know that Danny would love to find a way to get Dennis Smith? Why would he tell anyone on another team this kind of info? Doesn't ring true to me.

No, this is a very smart, Belichick-ian move, and if he can pull this off, it may be one of the craftiest moves Ainge has made to date. As much as I like Jayson Tatum, I don't see a surefire All-Star (neither do I see it in Josh Jackson). Heck, Ainge doesn't see it in Fultz either, which is why he traded the #1 in the first place. Fultz definitely has the goods, but not the mindset. So Ainge doesn't want to hold onto #3 if he doesn't have to. Especially cause he has Jaylen Brown on the roster already, and maybe we're going to add Gordon Hayward this summer too. But now he's found a PG he likes, who he thinks could be our eventual PG in 3 - 5 years (once IT is ready to move to a different role). Dennis Smith Jr has the goods to be special folks. So he'll see if he can trade down, and pick up another asset.

I think if we trade down to get a PG it'll be Fox - if he's there.

I think if we trade down to get a PG it'll be Fox - if he's there. I like Fox, especially if his jumper improves (and by the looks of his workouts, it has improved some already). But as far as the total package, Smith beats him out, in my book.

I'm extremely confident that you know far more about both players than I do. I just have a sense that Fox could be very special.
