Where were you ever linked to another person? By you.lol.. Your post comparing me to someone who was banned. I would hope that just because you don't agree with me that you act professional.. Smiles Do you mean when I mentioned CF00? That wasn't meant to be a comparision. There was a dude here that went by that name, and he and i would talk about bets and such. plus, he was nothing like you posting-wise. If you think we are homers, he was even moreso lol. Dude defended pretty much everything the Celtics have ever done. Dude had a bad habit of getting personal with posters, but I do kind of miss him around here.

I don't think there's any question about that. Ownership, management and coaches are all about winning. We're lucky, because not all franchises are run that way. Some are content to just make money, win enough to fill the stands and get people to tune in, but no more. The Celtics have always been about championships. I don't think the C's were all about winning in the Paul "Thanks Dad" Gaston Jr days. That dude was running a miserable operation. I don't know how much validity there is to it, but I heard the Vin Baker trade was done to save Gaston a few bucks just before he sold the team, even though it hamstrung us financially for years after. Thankfully Danny was able to talk Baker into that contract buyout, which is one of the most underrated moves of his tenure. Baker gave away an absurd amount of money in that deal. And didn't the C's have a miserable owner in the late 70s? Can't think of the guy's name, but i remember hearing he went over Red's head with that awful bob mcadoo trade, and it almost led to Red leaving the C's to go run the Knicks.

If we are going to stand pat, I'm game for that too. I'll be cheering for the young ones to develop under Brad and get the most out of their abilities.
It'll take a few more years to really see the fruit of our draft picks, but what Ainge has been able to assemble is pretty darn good. Lets start with our bigs.
Ante Zizic is starter material. Not only does he have the size and length to be a legitimate 5, but he's also got the motor and desire to be a rebounding force and a solid post defender (though maybe not a great shot blocker). The effort is there with this kid.
I don't know if Yabusele and Mickey have what it takes to be starters, but they offer a diverse skill set off the bench. For Yabusele, if he can be a solid three point shooter (35%) he can be our Maurice Speights. And if Mickey can be a solid shot blocker, he gives us a valuable defender off the bench.
Jaylen has potential to be a star SF, but he'll need to tighten up his ball handling and hone his shooting skills.
I don't have much confidence in James Young, and I'm starting to wonder about RJ Hunter.
Terry Rozier took a step forward this summer, and looks to be a part of the rotation. I think he's a nice player, but maybe just a notch below starting caliber on a contending team -- which means he can fill a spot as a combo guard off the bench who sparks the offense and plays tough D.
Marcus Smart, though I question his ability to knock down 3's at an average clip, still offers a tremendous amount on defense, guarding up to 4 positions.
And with another high Nets lottery pick on the way, we'll have yet another opportunity to add a piece to our puzzle. I have my eyes on an electric PG named Dennis Smith Jr, or wing scorer Jayson Tatum. Or if Harry Giles' knee problems isn't a risk, then he's in the mix too.
All in all, this is a collection of young players who can potentially be starters on a winning team.

And didn't the C's have a miserable owner in the late 70s? Can't think of the guy's name, but i remember hearing he went over Red's head with that awful bob mcadoo trade, and it almost led to Red leaving the C's to go run the Knicks. John Y. Brown. Idiot from Kentucky. Yep, it was John Y Brown. He traded franchises with Irv Levin giving Levin the Braves and Brown the Celtics. The trade of franchises also included sending Freeman Williams, Kevin Kunnert and Kermit Washington to the Braves for Tiny Archibald, Billy Knight and Marvin "Bad News" Barnes. Red had not been consulted about the trade and he publicly spoke against it, turning many Celtics fans against Brown right from the start. Red, like Danny tried to gather draft picks as assets and he had 3 first round draft picks that he had planned on to help with building the Celtics. Brown traded those 3 picks without consulting Red for Bob McAdoo because his wife, former Miss America Phyllis George, liked McAdoo and he wanted to please his wife. That move almost drove Red out of Boston. He met with the Knicks and had an offer in place to become their GM and gave the owners an ultimatum it was either him or Brown. With offer in hand from the Knicks, they knew he was serious. Brown sold out his shares in the team to his co-owner Harry Mangurian, thus keeping Red in Boston. There was another rocky period when Don Gaston died and his son Paul "Thanks Dad" Gaston took over the club. Under Paul Gaston, Rick Pitino was hired and made president of the team, casting Red aside and taking on Red's position. That didn't end very well and thankfully Wyc and company bought the team from him and put it on solid footing once again. I love Celtics' history!

A little too much Ainge-worship for me, but I'll agree that Danny is one of the smarter GMs.

That article made me want to throw up . We have a glut of guards and no center by design. Ever since the trade of Kendrick Perkins... What a stupid statement. That trade cost us a championship.. That philosophy will cost us from ever getting another.
