Thanks, FL for posting these updates.
Vasquez and Scola. Seems the Nets are settling on players who have already past their shelf life.

From ESPN.com: "Teams spent more than expected, and as a result, the league lowered its projection for the 2017-18 cap from $107 million to $102 million, according to a memo obtained by ESPN.com ... Teams and league officials anticipate much less league-wide cap space next summer for a much better free-agent class."
I've been watching mediocre players getting huge free agent deals and wondering who's going to have money left for next year. The Celtics will - if Danny resists burning it this summer. If he signs anyone else, it ought to be a one year commitment only. Then in July 2017, there will be some quality free agents and not many teams that can afford them. Patience!

I agree jmost. Patience is very important. So maybe we don't have a contender this year, we will still have a top 5 pick next year and cap space for another big free agent.

They would absolutely need to get a guarantee that he would sign an extension because whatever they have to give him would be way too much for a one year rental.

And I doubt Ainge would sign off on a deal like that if he wasn't assured of a guaranteed extension.

Pretty sure most teams dont have a contender this year..against that stacked GSW team. Kinda destroyed the dreams of most teams. No such thing as a cinderella in the NBA.

I'm loving the fact that we should have significant cap room again next year.

David Lee signs with the Spurs. This interests me because Brad Stevens coached Lee and deemed him not a good fit for us.
If Pop can get good use out of Lee, he proves he's still the best coach in the game, and shows Brad has a ways more to go. But if Pop struggles to bring value out of Lee, that tells me Brad did not miss on Lee.

I don't necessarily agree, DM. A player has to be a good fit for what you are trying to do, and may flourish in one system while struggling in another. The other players on the team matter too.
