Marcus Banks is the player on the fence right now. He was not given a contract extension (fellow '03 draft pick Kendrick Perkins got his) and he's out with an injury for an extended period of time.
Here's your chance to weigh Marcus' good and bad things to see if its wiser to keep him or show him the door.
Who wants to go first?

Good: He's better than Dickau and makes less money Bad: That only qualifies him for second worse in the league Good: He's fast as hell Bad: Thinks he is a small forward

Good: He's quick and athletic with long arms. Any basketball player who has these traits are off to a good start. He's got a developing jumper and his timing on his release is looking more consistent. He's a terrific in your face defender. He smothers his man and always has his arms extended like the way an eagle extends its wings, which makes it tougher for his man to dribble passed him. He doesn't always stay in front of his man, but because he's so exceptionally quick, he recovers very quickly.
Bad: not a smart PG. Just doesn't have an idea of how to run a team without scoring. Sloppy ball handler.

Well, in comparison, Orien Greene has the traits we like in Banks (defense, penetrating ability), but also has the traits we've been hoping for in a true passing PG. Plus, he's got the height and the poise. It'll be fun watching him develop.
But back to Banks, alright ;D

But back to Banks, alright ;D Ok. Banks can move, having West, Greene and Dickau.

Banks:
(+) - lock-down defender. - lightening quick - looks to creat the fast-break
(-) - self-confidence, or lack of it - not a true floor general

Yeah, I forgot about that. Banks has trouble with his confidence, it waivers too much.

well, we all know his strenghts and his main negatives seem to be inconsistency and lack of bb iq. having said that he's still better in his niche than dickau

Yes, that is true. As a 3rd PG, Banks is better than Dickau. But I think the decision is already made in Doc's and Ainge's mind. Banks is going to have to really play his butt off and play like an All Star for them to change their minds.

having said that he's still better in his niche than dickau Well... You might think that looking a the D side of things. OG could fill that role and DD the O side of things, in a tight game, needing a three. I would take my chances on Dan over Marcus, right now. Might be sorry later. Don't think so.

Dickau: .348 career 3pt % (last season .347) Banks: .331 career 3pt % (last season .356) (playoffs .455) Banks' 3pt shooting is often overlooked

Its not overlooked. Banks doesn't have a big enough sample size to deem whether or not he's a good 3 pt shooter. Dickau is better than him, even if his stats don't indicate it. Dickau takes a lot more 3 pt shots than Banks and I'm more confident in him hitting 3's than I am in Banks.
But if we are looking at who'd be more impactful as a 3rd PG, it would be Banks. His speed, defense, and instant scoring make him more value in a short period of time.

I am beginning to side w/ Sports Guy's analysis of Danny's signings of Scala, and Dickau.

I am beginning to side w/ Sports Guy's analysis of Danny's signings of Scala, and Dickau. What does Sports Guy have to say about the signing of Scala and Dickau? For the record, I'm a guy who sees Scalabrine finding a niche with us and being a fan favorite. He'll be a productive part of our bench.
