I won't be here to do the in game boxscores for this one.
But lets hope for a victory.
I'd like to see Jefferson play if he's fully healthy. If he's even a smidge uncertain about his ankle, Rivers should not play him.

Perk 6 mins 2 PF! ! ! OG small mis and balanced on stats. West getting the main PT at 1. PP 5 ast Reaf hitting from the floor. Gomes plays early, Reed not. Might be the other way around, next game.

Well, another game, another loss.
Weird game--both Pierce and Ricky were none existent in the scoring column while Raef had the game high. If we are going to win consistently, we need both Pierce and Ricky scoring big and the other guys contributing.
On any given night, Pierce, Ricky, and Jefferson (this is looking into the future) can give us 20+ points. On any given night, Raef, Blount, and Gomes can give us between 10 and 15 pts. On any given night, Delonte and Reed can give us between 5 and 10 pts. I have no worries about the scoring of this team.
Its the defensive part that I'm feeling a bit worrisome. We're still allowing teams to score a big amount. We've improved our rebounding and that will help us out. But we are still turning over the ball a lot, and we are a team who fouls a lot. Teams get to the free throw line a lot when they play us.

Orien seems to be coming along quite well. Had 4 assists in 16 minutes, second only to Pierce's 7 assists. Doc complimented him and I think his confidence in Greene is growing game by game. Tonight, he had more minutes than Dan Dickau, but that may not necessarily mean anything because Doc could probably just be seeing how much he can count on Orien once season starts.
Gomes didn't get much time and I wonder if that's a direct effect of Jefferson coming back. Unlike Justin Reed, Gomes is not really able to defend shooting guards.

Game thoughts:
Joey Graham looks like a player.
Charlie V. has really played well for the Raps.
Paul was really creating tonight. Not really looking for his own shot.
Raef was hitting most of his jumpers tonight, Paul found him for some nice layups.
Blount, or as he wants to be known as BLUNT, had another pretty solid game.
Perk needs to stay out of foul trouble, not sure if he can at this point of his career.
Big AL had mixed results. For his first game of the pre-season, we got what we pretty much expected. He had some nice low post moves, had a nice face up 15 footer from the left wing. He tried to do a little too much for my liking, but all in all , a pretty solid effort from Big Al.
When Reed came in, he played some tight man to man D, creating some turnovers.
Dickau didn't do much at the PG, but when he shifted over to the 2 guard, he had some nice catch and shoot 20 footers form the left wing from, in my mind the biggest revelation of our pre season, ORien Greene.
Orien is playing himself into the backup PG position.
Orien is really impressing me with his floor generalship. He knows how to run a break. He had three breaks tonight that led to 3 layups. I don't know if he can shoot, but he is definetly a PASS first PG.
His man to man D is reaching near Marcus territory. He has an NBA ready body. I really haven't seen his shoot a jumper yet. He got two free throws that he split. His stroke looke descent.
He had a nice end to end drive that led to a Perk thunderous throw down. Perk is lighter on his feet and can get up at least 6 inches higher over the rim on his dunks now.
I almost forgot about DeLonte. He had a pretty good night. He ws challenging on the glass, and had quite a few steals.
As for the score, I really don't get too excited with wins or losses right now. THe lineups both teams use in the pre season are not the ones you will see in the regular season.
Once Al gets into playing shape and Tony Allen comes back, don't forget about Tony, we will be fine.
THis is the deepest abnd most talented team the C's have had in 20 years.
Did I mention how good Orien has looked?!?!?!?!?

i wouldn't read too much into these losses as well. doc is tinkering with the line-up It reminds me of our last two losses of the season in 2004-05, once we had the division and #3 seed locked up. We rested our starters and lost the last two, but no one was concerned since Doc did not set the lineup to win, but rather to play the reserves and rest the starters. He seems to be doing the same thing now, especially since he has to decide who will not make the roster, so he needs to give time to "bottom of the rotation" guys.

I'm hearing a lot of good things about Orien from all over the place. The hosts of NBAtv Insiders were doing a rookie report and they said to watch out for Orien Greene (after previously talking about Gerald and Ryan). I saw some game clips from tonight's loss and Orien definitely has enough quickness to keep up with almost all PG's in the league. I read somewhere that Orien likes Jason Kidd a lot--which is always a big plus in my book. I hope he emulates Kidd in the way he leads the team.
Rivers' comments tonight about the game is somewhat revealing. First, he said that he's seeing the light when refering to Pierce and Ricky playing together. He stated that he always wants either Pierce or Ricky on the court at all times. But Ricky got in foul trouble tonight, leaving Rivers without him on the court when Pierce was resting. I think he's going to put Ricky back on the bench again--and I cannot be any happier. That's what we needed anyways.
Secondly, he mentioned that his use of the Gomes and Reed combination off the bench isn't going to work. He said that when they are in the game together, the ball doesn't move around the court.
Ok, so adding 2 and 2 together, I sense that Rivers is going to place Ricky in the 6th man role and put either Gomes or Justin Reed into the starting SF spot. I say Gomes more likely than Reed, because he scores better and rebounds better. But we'll see.

I'm hearing a lot of good things about Orien from all over the place. well, when i saw Orien's move on the NBA review of our game against the Bulls, a move were he drove to the basket for a layup, but dishes the ball in midair to Blount, i knew that he already has more PG skills than West & Dickau combined. They would never consider doing somzthing like that.

Very encouraging to hear, Oss. I didn't see that one, but from all that I'm hearing, this guy can definitely pass. Add in his 6'4" body, his defensive ability, his athleticism and quickness, and we have ourselves a guy who could replace Marcus Banks.
