Ryder was a perpetual problem of one sort or another, as I recall.
This is Tony 's first offense, as I recall.
Personally I'm for cutting a kid his age a LITTLE slack, especially if he is from the Chicago background. Whether h e is super talented or not.
I can't believe DA would have drafted him if he had a prior history of this kind of carp.
I don't want a guy with Ryder-kind-of-history around, regardless of how talented he is.

I don't understand why only NBA bballers get a little slack. When Trev Alberts didn't show up to work at ESPN they fired him. When a priest does something with a boy nobody says "hey it's his first offense. Cut him some slack and let him keep his job". When Nixon lied nobody cut him any slack. When Clinton minorly purjured himself in a civil trial nobody cut him any slack. Do you think the guy asked Tony for some slack before TA pummeled his face in while being video taped? I'm just saying a guy has to show up for work or he gets fired. There are excuses for not showing up to work where you can keep your job. Like my wife is having a baby or I'm in the army reserves and got called up. I pummeled a dude's face and now I'm facing charges is not an excuse for missing work talented or not.

maybe you have to ask your self if the other guy start all the problem.and talking about a priest i think is very diffente from punching a guy to child molester.

Very valid points. Can't say that I disagree with you, Eja. Tony Allen made his mistake and consequences are going to be met. How severly his consequences will be is yet to be seen. But looking at it from a strictly basketball point of view, Tony Allen is the type of player I'd want on my team. His physical tools and basketball abilities are very good in my book. If we are looking at this from a business point of view or a moral point of view, yes, he shouldn't be brought back.
I like him as a basketball player, but I don't like the trouble he got himself in. Not sure what else I can say.

Not sure Danny envisioned someone would actually break the code of conduct.

Not sure Danny envisioned someone would actually break the code of conduct. ;D Who would dare? Not a young rich kid... Or was he provoked? The video might not show what happend the last time they met - or what was said at the-time-in-question.

I admit molesting a kid isn't the same as punching a dude, but they are both forms of attack and there are penalties in both cases. I admit TA is an awesome player from a talent standpoint and in that way would want him. i also admit viedo tapes don't catch everything and i suppose TA might have done it in some sort of self defense. But I think a team has a right to say to a guy you should only be around one court and I wish teams did that more. i also feel like it sucks for the fans, especially the kids and families that they go spend a ridiculous amount of money to see their favorite player but the guy is in court. I'm not really sure how I feel about Barkley's statement that he's not a role model, but just cause he isn't a role model doesn't mean he has to be a negative role model. Maybe just nuetral

Ideally, a parent, or both parents, should be role models. But that's just not how it is in society nowadays. Athletes have to understand that it comes with the territory. Kids watch them as if they are bigger than life. To say that they aren't, or don't want to be role models is like a president of his own company telling his employees not to look at him as an example for how they should conduct themselves. Or a school teacher swearing left and right, telling her young kids not to follow her example.
