Second game of the preseason. Hope to see more improvements over last game. We don't necessarily have to win, as long as we show improvements. Helpfully, our second unit will not struggle offensively again. They are vital to our success.
Doc could try Dan Dickau at the starting spot today. I think this might be a good move and we'll see how it goes.
Ricky should be moved back to coming off the bench. In his place, I'd like to see Ryan Gomes starting. He struggled in the first game, but playing next to Pierce could open up the floor for him.
Could we see Perkins getting 12 boards tonight?
The Raptors have a lot of young and gitfted players. Chris Bosh, Charlie Villanueva, and Joey Graham are all athletic specimens who are quick and long. They also have Rafael Araujo, the big man in the middle, who I think is underrated.
We should be able to pull out the win tonight. The Cavs had more overall talent, even without Lebron. But this Raptors team is too young and inexperienced. So are we, but we have more proven veterans and more importanly, we have Pierce and Ricky.

I agree that Justin will have another good night following up his strong performance on tuesday. I think he will definitely turn some heads in the league this year with his play. He certainly has gotten my attention. It's like Tommy said, he will force the coaches to play him in the regular rotation by the way he is playing right now.

Yeah, Justin was forcing his shots early on, according to Rivers. He's in there for his defense and if he scores, well, that's just gravy.
If Ricky comes off the bench tonight, I look for him to be the leading scorer on the team. But that begs the question--if Ricky is the 6th man, who starts opposite of Pierce?

But that begs the question--if Ricky is the 6th man, who starts opposite of Pierce? My guess would be Reed (upper-hand IMO) or Gomes at this point. When Allen gets back and up to speed he fits the role too.

He's actually better suited as a 6th man than as a starter. He's got the power & speed to ignite from the bench, but he doesn't have the consistency with his jumper yet to be a starter.

I think the papers already reported that Ricky would start along with Dickau, Pierce, Lafrentz, and Blount.

Like the looks of PP, Perk and Gomes' numbers...
Dickau needs more time.
That's all I can say, for not seeing the game.

I agree that Dickau should've played more, but Doc said before the game that Dickau would start but not play much because he wanted to see Greene and Bynum play tonight. Greene didn't look bad at all. He is very big for a point guard, plays good defense, and not surprisingly the kid can rebound. Some key points from tonights game:
1. Once again, Blount played very well. He was hitting all his shots including turn-arounds in the post with a defender glued to him. His rebounding numbers were low, but the inconsistent playing time could be a factor. Lafrentz also played well, at both the center and power forward positions. He also hit all his shots, played some good D, and moved well without the ball.
2. Gomes had an excellent game. His post game is very polished, and he puts the ball on the floor well. Reed also played well. He hit his jumpers, and showed good moves inside the paint. Doc is going to have a very difficult choice here.
3. Ricky Davis and Paul Pierce got the Celtics back in the game after being down by double digits, and they are showing tremendous leadership through the first two games.
4. The point guard position is still up for grabs, and with Banks being hurt, it just prolongs this thing. Greene showed enough tonight to warrant being the third point guard, and it is my belief that Bynum will not make the roster. Dickau is the purest point guard out of the group. He passes well, pushes tempo and has a nice shot. However, Mike James torched him tonight, which makes me wonder how he will defend the upper echelon point guards. Delonte didn't play at all, but will play tomorrow night. My prediction is that Delonte will end up being the starter opening night.
5. The second unit played well tonight, and kept the lead after the starters made the come back. This was mostly due to Ryan Gomes and Justin Reed. With Ricky Davis eventually anchoring that unit, this could be a pretty effective group.

Perk had 8 RBs and only 2 Fs in 23 minutes. Encouraging.
Cs won with a big edge in FTs.
Cs took 9 3-point shots.
Cs had lots of TOs.
Cs had 20 As to 24 for Toronto.
Both had 36 points in the paint. Would like to see some kind of shot chart which shows where th e shots were from and who hit where. Don't expect that kind of thing until the season starts.

For the second game in a row we outrebound our opponent and Perkins leads us in rebounding coming off the bench; plus Gomes give us a solid rebounding effort from the 3 position, and we don't even have Big Al in our lineup yet. I can see us being a very solid rebounding team in the near future, which is fantastic given it was one of our main weaknesses last year.

i agree with greenblood on blount. he looked great offensively. if he had ANY hands, he could average 13-15 ppg. If he could at least rebound halfway decent, he'd be earning his check.
Even when gomes was missing down low, his moves still looked great. his shots will fall with time. Perk even had a play called down low. He missed a baby hook shot, but the mechanics on it looked pretty good.
we were getting killed on the glass early on. thankfully it didnt last very long.
Green looked like a kid out there. he's gonna need time to fill out.
overall i thought it was a very encouraging sign. i liked what i saw from the youngns.
