Yeah, this is the part of of his game that needs resolve. A perimeter game and hitting above 70% of his FT's will make him deadly.

Randle just nailed a three in the Kentucky game totally caught me off guard, first of his career. DM you said he played a lot at the perimeter in high school, his shot looked good I would love to see him take more as the season progresses.

DM you said he played a lot at the perimeter in high school, his shot looked good I would love to see him take more as the season progresses. One of the knocks on him in high school was that he wanted too badly to keep playing his perimeter game. Coaches at UK obviously forced him to play abit more in the post where he does have a variety of good moves. I guess he just has to find a balance.

Yeah, I think he was having too much fun playing like a guard, dribbling too much, crossing over guys, shooting pull up jumpers, etc. At Kentucky, it seems they want him to play like a PF in the post, and to his credit, he has done it admirably. Most of damage comes in the paint. I applaud him for that.

A think some folks are slightly down on Randle because he isn't very long and he isn't a freak athlete. This kid is gonna put up big numbers for a long time.

Amare -- that's all I have to say about Julius Randle. Amare in his prime was a force, even though he wasn't a tall 4.

Yeah he can definitely handle the ball like Amare could. Like i mentioned in some other post, if he gets paired with a good pick n roll partner, he is gonna be a 25ppg scorer in this league.
I think Amare in his prime was definitely a better athlete, but he is still a good comparision (especially if Randle can hit those top of the key long 2s like Amare could).

Hmm I'd actually compare Randle to perhaps Lamar Odom. Multi-faceted big man who could handle the ball, create for others, drive, shoot and unlike Odom, Randle comes with a better post game.

Amare made a living off of pick and rolls and pick and pops with hall of fame steve Nash. I've seen randle play, haven't seen really any pick and roll and look at his shooting numbers. He only has a hand full of shots made that aren't Layups or dunks on the entire season. A lot of red flags to me.. Does he have that pick and pop game that I haven't seen?? There is no question he is a beast inside the paint, But he will certainly be undersized in the NBA so he will need an actual game..

Amare is 6'11" as compared to Randel who is 6'9"

I don't see the Amare - Odom comparison. Lamar was a Point Forward, he had the handles to be one, he had the passing ability, and his game was suited for the perimeter. Randle is a 4 who can do some dribbling (but he gets in trouble when he tries to do too much dribbling). No one thinks Randle can be a Point Forward.
Nate, I seriously doubt Amare is 6'11", no matter what his listed height is.

Our good friends at draft express say that Amare measured in at 6'10" in shoes during the pre-draft camp.

My top 10 ranking as of today (1/22) would look like this:
1) Embiid 2) Parker 3) Randle 4) Exum 5) Gordon 6) Harris 7) McDermott 8) Wiggins 9) Vonleh 10) ??

I'll be honest, I don't quite like McDermott. I'd be pretty bummed if he was our pick. I'd prefer the upside of Wiggins over McDermott's fancy college stats.
