You people seem to think Pierce has extremely good trade value. Its maybe 2 times or 2 and 1/2 times what Walkers is which still isn't that much. That could get a top 10 first rounder though plus a solid player with a big contract maybe expiring.

And I would trade either DWest, TAllen, or RGomes in a heartbeat for what we could get in a Pierce trade, so IMO Pierce is more important than Allen, West, or Gomes.

Right on. I think Danny is trying to get a superstar in return for Pierce IF a deal presents itself like KG.
I think Pierce, Raef and Allen for KG and Kandi would be a good trade.

I don't think PP will ever win a championship unless he is forced into a team role, meaning he is 3rd best on the team. If he is ever in a situation like that he will br surrounded by so much talent they might not be able to help but win a ring. But honestly highly talented, selfish, and leadership devoid SG/SF grow on trees in this league. Iverson, Allen Ho, PP, Kobe, Tracy M, Steve F, Richard J, M Finley, M Redd, Carmelo, grant hill, C Maggette, Ray Allen They can't all win championships. if you can't win a championship get off my team Here are some championship type guys. Guys that have a championship aura about them Shaq by pure size but there's more than meets the eye, maybe Lebron, maaaayyyyyybe KG, Duncan, maaaayyyyybe Kidd, Steve Nash, Amare S, Ben Wallace when you give him two good guards, T prince and a good pf next to him. Think about it. Those are the guys that if a coach said "we're going to win a championship with...." You wouldn't laugh. All those other guys you would. PP is in the laugh category. Looking 7 years down the line GG and AL J aren't in the laugh category yet. TA isn't. Gomez could be a Tay Prince. But PP has the stench of failure on him. And the worst kind. Selfish failure.

Yea Stackhouse can also fall in that category as well. You forgot him and VC. Pierce won't be able to win a title at all the rate hes going.

I feel the same way. Talking about all these high profiled wing players (Iverson, PP, Kobe, Tracy M, Steve F, Carmelo, C Maggette, etc.), its easy to see that they all have a common characteristic--they only play well when playing by themselves. In other words, they are effective only when they have control of the ball. Take the ball out of their hands and put them in a team structure where all 5 players are equal (for the most part) and have set roles, and they will probably leave.
This is how teams win championships. Being an individual star player only gets you individual awards.
Case in point, 2 guards who are very skilled players but play in a team structure and don't try to shine individually--Manu Ginobli and Tayshaun Prince. They could go one on one and take 30 shots a game if they wanted to (though their coaches would never allow them to do that). But neither the Pistons nor the Spurs would have ever become champions if they'd have played like this. Its because of the way they played, the way they suppressed their egos for the good of the team, and their willingness to not be a hero that has allowed their team to play as a team and win the ultimate prize.
Pierce needs to go from star player to role player and not feel disgruntled. He needs to move without the ball and make hard cuts, set screens and sacrifice some of his offense, in order for this team to really be a 5 man team. We need every single player running hard and giving maximum effort to get open and move the ball around the court. The longer the ball stays in one person's hands, the harder it will be to keep the momentum going. Doc needs to get this into Pierce's head because he's a scorer who likes to size up his defender and take his time picking defenses apart. This is not how we are going to do things from now on.

As in PP being a role (team) player... I agree. When a team wins a championship the entire unit gets a star. Forever,,,

Pierce will be more respectable if he becomes a lesser scorer and a team player rather than if hes a ballhog, gets 26ppg and then retires like that with no #17 brought back. At least he can go out with more respect and a guaranteed retired number if he reduces himself for the better of the team. The same could have also appiled to Antoine had he always wanted to do the right things.

With the way the team is being set up, almost every single player on the roster who has a chance to stick with the team is being taught how to play together as a team. Because all 9 of these young guys who have been drafted within the last 3 drafts have been playing together (during the season, as well as offseason), the chemistry that they'll build among one another will surely help them to play well together as a team.
