www.sportsline.com/nba/story/886638619. Al Jefferson, Boston: How does a guy who played fewer than 15 minutes per game last season crack the Top 20? Simple. He's a beast. At 6-10 and over 270 pounds of solid granite, Jefferson is about to break out. We just thought we'd hop on the bandwagon and get a good seat before it starts getting crowded.

I guess he's being listed at Center because of the way Phoenix uses him. Not too often can a 6'8" guy play Center and still produce as much as he does.
I don't know if that article is entirely believable. I mean, Jefferson is not 270 lbs of solid granite. He still needs a lot of musle toning before I say he's solid granite. Perkins = solid granite.

I was going to say the same thing Derren. maybe the quality of Granite has really gone down? I think AlJeff's greatest asset is his natural ability to put the ball in the basket, Its not like he was overpowering guys last year. He just has the gift of scoring.

Yes, that's his game. He's not at all a bruising type of PF. He may even look soft because he doesn't look to slam the ball at every opportunity. It doesn't mean he's not aggressive. It just means he has an incredible scoring touch around the basket, which takes him away from using brute strength. Watching him play, you wouldn't think he's 260 - 270 lbs. He plays much lighter. But that just goes to show you how well he wears his weight. He has lightning quick reflexes and excellent end to end footspeed.

This is why the focus needs to stay on Jefferson and not vear towards Eddy Curry. Jefferson can be better than EC. But yes, I saw how Jeffersons scoring is mad good near the rim. He gave Shaq a run for his money there. I think Jefferson is a "Baby Shaq" who doesn't dunk that much, what do yous think? One thing I saw jefferson lacking was rebounding and blocked shots especially. Maybe in time, he can be well rounded. Then again, I see Jefferson being a Zach Randolph without the baggage maybe mixed with Jermaine O'Neal and Randolph is weak in those other areas like Jefferson is. Randolph isn't a top rebounder even though he rebounds like 7 per game. Hes not a top blocker and I see Jefferson going in the Zach Randolph direction in terms of play.

I actually see Jefferson being a terrific rebounder and a pretty efficient shot blocker. There are only a handful of guys in this league who can swipe the ball out of the air quicker than Jefferson can. Looking beyond the horizon, Jefferson is capable of being a 11 rpg big man.

Eventually, there is no doubt he can average 10 boards a game. But right now, not quite.

Yeah, AlJeff's rbs and shot blocking looks great to me. I dont think anyone will mistake him for jerry lucas, but i could see him average 12 rbs a game in his prime. And I dont see AL as a baby shaq at all. Shaq dominates people with his size. Al doesnt. Shaqs a center. Al isnt.

Al could be a center in the east though. I mean, they called Curry a "baby Shaq". Why can't Jefferson be called that? Jefferson also if you notice is soft spoken like Shaq.

Curry was expected to be a physical player. AlJeff was never expected to be a physically dominating player.

This makes Jefferson even better when you think about it. The unexpected just coming right out and doing well opposed to all hype with Eddy Curry and much of the early 2001 NBA draft. In our eyes though, he should be a baby Shaq even if it was never in anyone elses eyes. He will be one of the most underrated players when he hits his potential. I can never picture Big Al to be overrated at all.

But to call someone a baby shaq would mean that his game is a replica of Shaqs, and in my opinion, there games arent even close. One relies on size and strength, one relies on a nice scoring touch around the basket.
