Barring any trades, we have 14 players under contract, leaving just 1 spot left.
1) Pierce 2) Ricky 3) Raef 4) Blount 5) West 6) Allen 7) Banks 8) Jefferson 9) Perkins 10) Gomes 11) Reed 12) Green 13) Greene 14) Scalabrine
We have Will Bynum under contract till the season starts, but we can also go after Taylor Coppenwrath. We have a full plate of PG's (now we have 3 young ones under contract after Orien signed the dotted line, and Ainge still needs to bring in a vet) and not many big men--especially if Walker is not coming back.
Ainge said that he wanted to go after a big man and a vet PG this summer. He's got Scalabrine, but he's yet to get a vet PG. Will the final roster spot be used on him, whomever it is?

The Glove if he will take a min contract. Otherwise probably Will Bynum and then they send Bynum and Greene to the NBDL and let them duke it out. What I don't understand is what happens to the roster when they send them to the NBDL. I guess it doesn't matter too much since you can only have 12 guys a nite. Plus I thought they were slimming rosters to 14 but allowing NBDL allocations.

Maybe a trade of Blunt ( not a typo) for a veteran PG would be best but that leaves us thin in tall fellas over 6'10". But looking at this makes me think a trade looms

The best trade is this:
Walker for 10 mil dealt to NY with Blounts 5 mil or so and getting Pennys 15mil expiring deal. I would be F'n thrilled with that.

not sure there is a 15th. I think rosters will be 14, with in IR. I th ink the guys in the NBDL don't count toward that. But it has been very vague so far.

Ferbo's right. 14 man roster w/ no IR. Any additional players can be put on the NBDL team (1st or 2nd year player I believe.)

as i have understood - 14 man rosters also include the ones who are in the nba-dl. it's your choice if you keep them on your bench or in the dl. i could be wrong of course because there are mixed messages about the new cba

So, if that's the case, we'll probably be involved in a trade to get ourselves a vet PG.
BTW, I don't think Oriene Greene is going to the NBDL. Seems like Ainge likes him too much to place him there. From the looks of it, he's going to be given the opportunity to get some playing time with the Celtics (or maybe that's just me looking through my green colored glasses). Willy Bynum could indeed be our NBDL player, and that would be a smart move.
We need better frontcourt depth and a vet PG to show the kids how to run the show. I'd be happy to get an upgrade over Blount because, quite frankly, I don't think he has much to offer. Scalabrine and Raef are going to be solid players mixed in with Jefferson and Perkins, but being that the latter players are still young, we need another big man to help us out.

Pump up the karma. I must have bought the same green glasses. I believe MBlount will come out of his funk. If not Tony C might be a fit for the 12-14 slot on the roster. (?) Where's our resident CBA-man Mev, when we need him?

I am going to say Danny signs a veteran guard. Who? Not sure. I don't think Danny is going to let West/Banks have the keys to the team yet.

I still think that Ainge isn't looking to bring in a veteran PG to start. An insurance kind of guy.

I think he should. Delonte, Banks, and Orien will struggle. Its not a question of if they will struggle--they will struggle. And its only to be expected. Even All-Star caliber PG's go through funks during the season where they are making bad decisions and can't get the team on the same page. This will be even more evident with 3 guys who have less than 3 years of NBA experience between all 3 of them.
Payton took a lot of the pressure off of Banks and Delonte last year. We are still going to need a veteran presence to take the reign while the young guys go through their funk.

In a true running offense they could be fine. Just move the ball 1-5. On with the youth.
