Just got this from RealGM.
A poster sited BSG (Boston Sports Guy--aka Bill Simmons) as saying that the Brian Scalabrine signing didn't involve any of our MLE. He said that its a possibility that we are going to use a sign and trade with Banks going to NJ for Scalabrine. And with our MLE, we are going to use it for Saras Jasikevicius.
Now if this happens, it kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Ainge wanted some frontcourt help and a vet PG, and he'll get with these moves. Jasikevicius can be a terrific mentor for West. And by moving Banks, Orien Greene can remain on the team as our 3rd PG and gain valuable experience learning under Saras.

That would be nice. BSG often has inside info lets hope so. I heard Saras was close to signing with the Jazz, too.
I have not really seen Saras play though I heard good things. I will feel better when I see him play some. Tony Parker is the only decent PG I think of from Europe. I read Saras is a PG but some says he plays like Drazen, who, if memory serves, was a SG. Bird thinks he is the best European player out there but he is 29.

Yeah, I'm also interested in getting my own look at this guy. But the fact that Bird and Ainge have interests in him makes me think that he must have some skills. From the sounds of it, he's a real floor general who orchestrates the offense. Popular as heck over in Europe.

Is this too good to be true? Having a PG closer to PP's age might help Paul find his way into Doc's system.

coachbob.free.fr/Videos/sarunas%20jasikevicius.mpgLook out people! If we get Sarunas and Juan Dixon that could be a pretty good combo at the point with Sar, West and Dixon. Can you say John Stockton lite? A pg in green finally or am I dreaming? If it's true this could be the missing piece to the puzzle and the C's may surprise an awful lot of people this year.

True, but that is Danny Ainge's specialty. It very well may not happen, but imo this team needs a pg first and foremost and not just some left over scraps. I'd like to see the C's be aggressive at this position considering I think a legit pg is about all this team is missing imo. If Ainge is smart whcih I think he is I could see him trying to pull something so he has the full mle to spend on a pg. And considering Sarunis is the only guy worth that imo it would make sense. Getting a real pg in here for the mle is small potatoes so I don't think Ainge would hesitate to spend that money considering the return the C's would receive on the court.

IMO- Like you give a crap....But here it is. ;D If we pick up Saras or Dixon, It will be only one of them. Not both. We might keep West to be the starter w/Dix or as #2 PG if we get the Euro. Either way Orien Greene will be #3... If we go with West and Banks, Orien will still be #3. That might be a risk DA and Doc might take. Dollar-wise. ?

One thing to remember about the three kids: seems to me they have somewhat different strengths (potentially). Which might make for interesting utilization patterns.
I do agree that DA is pretty imaginative, so we shall see. And the fact that the papers are reporting what he is going to do doesn't lead me to think the wheels aren't turning.

If this goes down, it would be nice from how it sounds. But Scalabrine is a possible trade for Banks? Where did you hear that? Either way, it is killing 2 birds with 1 stone getting Scala then getting Saras. Saras is a good price if he pans out. He came out late also which could only make him as another euro adjust good to the nba game (See Sabonis).

I guess he's going to the Pacers. Oh well. Would have been nice. Nice signing by the birdman. He beat us to the punch apparently.

2 thoughts:
*Obviously, Saras wanted to be on a "win now" team. He could have gotten more $$ on other teams.
*If he was going to sign somewhere else, i'm glad he went to the Pacers. They were already beyond our reach anyway.

That's quite interesting. Hey here's a question. Who would you rather have on your team for the next 3 years if you could only have one? Delonte or Banks? I may be nuts but I am kinda leaning towards Banks cause I kinda just don't think Delonte can be a starting PG in this league but I think Banks has a chance. I saw Saras at the Olympics. Think of a player the exact oppositte of Iverson but in a good way. Slow. Smart. Makes no mistakes. Guts. Leadership. (Iverson has those most of the time). Good shot. Kind of a slower Stockton
