I mentioned it in an earlier post, but it also seems weird that I am older now than Reggie ever was. When you're a kid adults seem so old.

Rest in Peace Reggie... .We miss you still....
It is hard to imagine how good the Celtics could have been in the 90s had both Len Bias and Reggie lived. Reggie's death was the beginning of my hatred for David Stern. When he would give the Celtics no cap relief from Reggie's salary, It left no doubt in my mind that Stern did not like the Celtics franchise and saw a great way to hurt them. He has since granted cap relief to several clubs for career ending injuries to players like Darius Miles, that we later saw was not career ending. And even to the Rockets for Yao Ming's foot injury last year that at the time wasn't even considered career ending.
People wonder why I feel that Stern dislikes the Celtics enough to rig the lottery against them or to instruct his refs to keep them from getting a ring. It all goes back to the fact that when the Celtics family and franchise were grieving from the loss of their captain (on top of a top draft pic a couple of years before) he made a decision to make sure that the Celtics would not be competitive for years to come.
I didn't mean to get into a rant, but this comes back to irk me every time I think of it. Rest in Peace Reggie. You will always be a Celtic and live on in our hearts and memories.

I hate to nitpcik, but its not like Reggie's contract was some giant albatross around our neck in the 90s. We were bad because of poor drafting and awful free agent aquisitions, not because of Reggie's contract. And I don't think you can compare Reggie's deal with what happened to guys like Miles and Yao (and I dont think Houston got any compensation for Yao). Those guys got hurt years after Reggie's death, and the CBA already had rules in place to deal with player deaths, which was spurred on by the mess that followed after Reggie and Drazen's death. |

A couple of nights ago on NBAtv the analysts were talking about rip hamilton and his ability to curl around picks and hit that mid range jumper. they started asking around who's jumper was the hardest to guard and Kendall Gill said Reggie's was the best. Pretty cool to hear Reggie get some pub.

Don't know if I ever held this opinion, but watching Reggie now, he reminds me a lot of Tony Allen in the way they move and in their demeanor (both play a little bit goofy).
