Just found a DraftExpress write up on Orien Greene. You're going to get excited after reading this, but may I give a bit of caution: I've noticed that Giovani gives a bit too much praise for players when at times its not warranted. Nonetheless, with this write up along with the video clip of Greene BC posted in the very first post of this thread, I am really starting to like this kid's chances. www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1010(scroll a little ways down. He's the second guy on the list) His body type reminds me of Chauncy Billups, except not as broad shouldered and not as chiseled. His game also resembles it a bit. Definitely got the height and the defensive ability to be like Billups. Don't take what I'm saying out of context (Meltin!!). He's not going to be the next Billups. But he may be able to play like him as a poor man's version. I think his injury riddled career at Lousianna-Lafayette shot down his draft status, which enabled him to drop all the way to 53.

I see him as a black Jaric. Some 6'5 pg without the name Roki Ukic. Can't think of 1 tall pg who is far from being a star in the league. Livingston only comes to mind.

That was a pretty darn good write-up on draftexpresss. I value Danny's draft visions,so I believe Danny used this pick well.

Definitely. Ainge saw what an asset Greene could be because of his height, athleticism, long arms, and PG skills. This is the type of guys you want to be taking chances on with the 53rd pick. Plus, Ainge urged him to get surgery on his foot, so you know he's got some interest vested in Greene.

This kid was surely worth the 53rd from what it sounds.

Lets hope Greene becomes a steal like Gilbert Arenas was for GS except Greene doesn't become a streaky shooter.

Well, there's hope for Greene's shooting. In the article it says that his jumper wasn't consistent because of his shooting form. But after working out with a trainer guy named Thorpe, his form improved, along with his consistency.
If he keeps working on his jumper, this guy might be able to open some eyes. I guess we shouldn't expect him to be a guy of Arena's caliber, but he could be a gem, in his own right.

I put Greene in my Justin Reed slot, for 2005-06 season. I say they will both be solid. Starters in fact....
Mark my words. (Who used to say that?)

Mickey Mouse?!!
I think you are right about Orien Greene. Just like Justin Reed, Orien should show enough game to be a steady contributor for us off the bench.

In 2 yrs they both (Reed this year) might be starting. I do like JR as the 6th man though, OG as our tall pg... I drool...

I'm excited to see what Greene has to offer. From that little video snipit and the good things the reports say about him, I'd like to see him in action and get my own assesment of his abilities.
Indeed, having a tall PG who can see over defenders' heads, he can lob alley oop passes to Green and Allen all night!!
