I will not be the least surprised if Orien Greene pushes Banks to the NBDL. He has more to offer from the PG spot than Banks does.
On a side note, from this point on, we can expect Ainge only to draft PG's with uncommon first names. Delonte, Orien, and Marcus (well ok, Marcus isn't that uncommon).

banks can't go to the nbdl he's got two years experience. you can only send players with less than 2 years of experience to the nbdl

Oh, that's right. Forgot about that little part of the deal. Well, Marcus was traded away last year. It things work out with Orien, Banks may be moved again this year. There just isn't room for 3 young PG's on the team (+ 1 veteran) who needs time on the court.

Looking at the history of the 53rd pick I don't think we can expect Orien to contribute much any time soon. I think unless he does much better than either PG in the summer and camp he goes NBDL for 2 years, then revisit his status unless something happens. That something would be in no order, he dominates the NBDL, Delonte falters, injury, trade, he does extremely well in summer leagues and camp next year, combination of the above. I think he is partly insurance for some of these situations or if they can't get Sarunus, plus he is a low risk gamble

I look for Greene to be solid like I do Justin Reed. I'm going to take Orien as on of my favs. I like the up side in both guys.

Personally I think Banks could have a break out year, all things considered last year was really his first year of coaching the point guard position, his Rookie year was a mix of no playing time and a terrible interim coach. Under Doc last year, I think you saw Banks really begin to make strides, I think he can be a great defender/scorer off the bench for us, he always hustles and his hands are so fast he picks the ball from you so fluidly. I think with a summer to work and hone his knowledge of the PG position and the C's system he really could come good. I think saying he needs to go to the NBDL is a bit harsh actually. I don't think he will be a starting PG, but I do think he can be a great change of pace guard and good insurance in case Delonte goes down.
I think Orien has upside no doubt coming from a small school he can only get better under Docs tutalage, but I haven't seen enoguh of him to annoint him our second PG yet.

but I haven't seen enoguh of him to annoint him our second PG yet. I wouldn't even go there myself. I just like to go for the under-dog of the kids. We have some fun years ahead of us...

Even though he lives there. I I don't think DA has plans for him. Other than trade, while we can get something for him.

But according to the roster, Perkins is going to be playing in the summer league games. Actually, I don't think there's an experience limit. We see guys like Kris Klack year after year in these summer league games. And wasn't Kwame in last year's games? He was drafted in '01.

Im a florida gators fan so i know a little about green. Tremendous athelectic ability. Dosent have great shooting range, but he can penetrate and create for other. Where i really think he will be an asset if he makes the team is defensively. I love banks and west, but i can just see billups or dwayne wade posting up our guys in crucial situations. Greene is 6'5 gotta love that. I still think we need a veteran PG though especially in playoff time.

Yeah, and I think that's why Ainge has hope for this guy. He's not only tall, but he's well built, sort of in the Billups/Arenas mold. He won't get pushed around by the bigger PG's. Plus, he's a theif who can swipe passes. I like the sound of that.
