Wow. It's been almost a year since someone has posted here. Ok. I liked the Hobbit movies. Anyway I'm watching the 40th anniversary of SNL right now. Rather amazing to have all that talent in the same room. It's different

It bums me out that I couldn't get my antenna to work in my new apartment to get NBC in. Would've loved to have seen that.

It's a crime against humanity that we let this thread go nearly a year without an update. This has always been one of my favorite threads at good ol' CG. Anyway, on to the movies.
If you have netflix, I highly recommend Blue Ruin. It's the best movie of 2014 that I've seen so far. I was hoping it would get more award season love, but when the biggest star in your movie is the dude that played Buzz in Home Alone, you're not gonna get a lot of publicity.

I broke the norm, and went to see a movie in the theaters, Jurassic World. Entertaining, however I wouldn't say it was a classic.

I think Hunger Games is a better concept. I think it's somewhat metaphorical for the Soviet Union, which makes it more believable. But in Divergent you have this society that is capable of fantastic technology but can't rebuild a city or venture out past it. But they have vehicles. But there doesn't seem to be a source for oil or refining.

I went to Ex Machina. I dug it. Had a real creepy vibe. Director did a good job really pushing the whole isolation angle. the robot design was really cool.
As for Dr. Holmes, I haven't seen it yet, but ive heard good things. Really cool concept.
I went and saw Black Mass a while back. Solid movie. I'm a sucker for true crime/mobster 70's and 80's era stuff so i was definitely their target audience.
Saw Sacario a week or so ago. Very, very good, but a really brutal, bleak movie. Captures a lot of the moral dilemmas that come up with the war on drugs.
