among modern rock bands, i like the bands you mentioned jiri2davis. audioslave is a very good band. i love tom morello's guitar work (though, it doens't compare with what he's done with RATM). and chris cornell's voice remains one of the most recognizeable voices in all of rock. incredible range and emotion. moreso now than with soundgarden.
i also love fuel, 3 doors down (the first album. they're selling out just like creed with their radio friendly music office workers can listen to), oasis, disturbed, evanescence (sp?), etc.
btw, i'm a sucker for love songs (i grew up listening to bon jovi), and "the reason" by hoobastank is one i'm always hoping will pop on the radio when i'm stuck in traffic.

Hey man cmon...they might not be what you like but you dont have to laugh at me Barenaked Ladies??? Dude, out of everything there is out there, it just shocks me that you would stoop to say that there your favorite. Some weezer songs arent bad though. You know these weezer songs?: You gave your love to me softly Buddy Holly Sweater song among modern rock bands, i like the bands you mentioned jiri2davis. audioslave is a very good band. i love tom morello's guitar work (though, it doens't compare with what he's done with RATM). and chris cornell's voice remains one of the most recognizeable voices in all of rock. incredible range and emotion. moreso now than with soundgarden. i also love fuel, 3 doors down (the first album. they're selling out just like creed with their radio friendly music office workers can listen to), oasis, disturbed, evanescence (sp?), etc. btw, i'm a sucker for love songs (i grew up listening to bon jovi), and "the reason" by hoobastank is one i'm always hoping will pop on the radio when i'm stuck in traffic. The only fuel cd I like is sunburn and 1 song off something like human but sunburns awesome. I hate 3 doors down. Oasis is great. Someone finally posted a winner lol. I like old bon jovi too. Hoobastank eahhh. There a ripoff of incubus but a few songs aren't bad.

incubus i don't care for and as for hoobastank, "the reason" is the only song i care for from them. i don't really care for comical punk rockers in the vein of blink182, jimi's chicken shack, 741, etc.
i'm still trying to get my hands on the unplugged video oasis had on mtv where noel sang the entire show because brother liam didn't want to be there. i saw parts of it and read about the entire incident in guitar world magazine, but i'd love to see the entirety of the broadcast.
i'm not a total oasis buff, but i do love such songs as- don't go away, -stand by me, -don't look back in anger, -cast no shadow, -d'you know what i mean.
other bands i really like a lot are godsmack, alice in chains, foo fighters, among others.

Oasis's be here now is a much better cd than "Whats the story morning glory?" in my opinion. Other than stand by me and Right here right now, youre forgetting another good song on be here now called " I hope, I think, I know".Thats one of my favorite ones. The foo fighters and alice in chains are good. Godsmacks s/t was good. After that, I didnt like them as much.

how can you not like godsmack? i love tony rambolla's chugging guitar work and sully's emotional voice.
i really love evanescence. i'm falling in love with amy lee. i love her voice and the passion and emotion she sings with.
but of course, no band compares to metallica.

Evantescence is ok at best. No band compares to metallica huh? old metallica you mean? Soundgarden is actually the band that not many bands can compare to.

of course nothing compares to old metallica songs like whiplash, four horsemen, hit the lights, for whom the bell tows, fade to black, the call of ktulu, battery, master, the thing that should not be, leper messiah, orion, everything from the justice album, etc.
but i'm actually one of the few guys who love their newer albums after the black album. i love a lot of the songs from load and reload (until it sleeps, hero of the day, king nothing, bleeding me, outlaw torn, devil's dance, fixxxer). their new album is still hard for me to swallow. its just too off the wall.
have you heard veruca salt's "eight arms to hold you with"? that's a good album, especially "loneliness is worse".

For new I like: Its electric, The house that jack built, aint my (censored), hero of the day, loverman, free speech for the dumb and a few more.
The call of ktulu is one of the best long metal songs I ever heard. I love kill em all, ride the lightning and master of puppets the most. And justice for all was ok but I wasn't so hot on it like the others. Old Metallica was unbeatable but I think they have become such a disgrace. I thought they really had more class.

electric, loverman and free speech aren't metallica songs though. they're just covered by met, as you probably know. the best songs on garage days revisited imo, is am i evil and merciful fate medley. those really kick butt.
i got to talk to kirk hammet here in hawaii. i was at a wedding party which he was invited to and at the end of the night i went up to him and started chatting away for a few minutes with him. an absolute down to earth guy. he actually extended his hand shake to me even before i said anything and introduced himself as if he was just a guy off the street. little did he know i was a fan of his (more of james', but who cares when you're face to face with kirk, right).
i'll never forget that night.

I know there all covers because 1 cd is all covers and the other was the garage days.
Anyways, I knew a few ppl in metallica had to be down to earth unlike that lars dickhead and james hetfield. Kirk Hammett wasnt talked about in those metallica scandals much and he was the nicest so see lol. I knew a few had to be down to earth but hetfield and lars were metallica so everyone looked down on the whole band due to them.
