Rondo has faced some tough competition so far (Arenas, Ford, Iverson) but this will be his toughest matchup yet.  vs  Vince Carter is capable of taking over a game and RA is going to need to make him work on the defensive end so that he won't be as prolific on the offensive end. Honorable Mention: Pierce vs Jefferson Pierce has been playing great defense and will need to continue in this game since Jefferson has been the Nets' high scorer with 25.8 points per game.  to the Game: Defense: This is going to be the key to every victory this season. Defense has always been the key to winning and the Celtics finally have a good defensive team. They must continue their commitment to playing in your face team defense, especially against teams like the Nets that are capable of putting up big offensive numbers. Ball Movement: When they move the ball to find the open man, this team is pretty much unbeatable. When the ball movement stalls and one player tries to do too much, they struggle. That was one of the reasons that the Raptors game was so close - they didn't move the ball as efficiently as they should and players tried to do too much on their own. Don't Pick up Cheap Fouls: We need our starters to stay out of foul trouble. Rondo especially needs to stay away from fouls because he becomes tentative when he picks up fouls early and we need his aggressive defense on Kidd. Because Pollard is still rusty, it is also important for Perk to stay out of foul trouble. Game Notes The Nets were picked by many of the preview magazines to win the Atlantic. They have their own big 3 of Kidd, Jefferson and Carter and are a dangerous team. The Celtics have already beaten one Atlantic Division rival and with many picking the Nets to win the division, a win in this game would definitely send a message. The Celtics have a lot going against them in this game. It is the second of back to back games. They are traveling after the Hawks game and won't have the home crowd to get them going. Doc will be attending his father's funeral in the morning and may or may not coach. With all the adversity surrounding this game, it will definitely be a test for them. |

I expect the bench to hopefully play a role in this game. it was nice to see House get going tonight. We are without our other 2 main guys in Posey and Scal. Allen, Powe, Baby and Pollard are going to need to step it up if they get time.

I expect this to be our biggest challenge yet. I hate Kidd, with a passion, but he will eat out points for lunch. They also got Cater and Jefferson who has been a monster out there. Then of course is their bench. Wright has been a great 6th man.

This is a very good challenge for us. Kidd is a savvy veteran who can still carve out defenses, and Vince is still a deadly scorer. Plus, they have a pretty deep roster.
We will probably be without Posey and Scal--two important cogs off the bench. House and TAllen will have to step up their productions. House needs to find his spots and be a sharpshooter, and TAllen has to slice and dice, and get us some points. Time for Doc to call upon Powe and Baby and test them (they should do alright in brief minutes).
Our Trilogy should match the output of the Net's big three, and the outcome of this game may be decided by each team's supporting cast. Rondo and Perk need to give us double digits in scoring, plus giving us the assists/steals and rebounds/blocks.
This is also our 1st back to back game of the year, and we'll get to see how our team competes in this situation.

Doc is coaching and Scal and Posey are definitely out. Nets win the tip. Celtics deflect a pass and RA finishes at the basket at the other end. Jefferson drives to the hoop and is fouled by Pierce. He hits both FTs. Rondo brings the ball up against light pressure. KG misses a fade away from the FT line and rebound goes over the backboard to NJ. Kidd with a pass to the Hoop for a Carter jam. RA misses from the corner. Carter and KG both grab the rebound and jump ball is called. KG wins the tip. Rondo hits a jumper. Rondo almost gets a steal but Kidd recovers. Jefferson misses and Perk rebounds. PP drives and kicks out to Rondo who misses a jumper. Carter misses and RA rebounds. Jefferson called for a blocking foul as RA drives to the basket. RA hits both FTs. Rondo pressing Kidd as he brings the ball up. Rondo knocks the ball away from Kidd Nets inbound. PP with a steal. PP takes it all the way to the hoop but can't finish. Nets rebound. Kidd hits a jumper. Carter knocks the ball out of bounds with 5 on the SC. KG misses at the SC. Tip by RA misses. Kidd draws the foul on Rondo. He hits both FTs. PP gets the pass with 3 seconds on the SC and instead of shooting drives to the hoop and Celtics called for a 24 second violation. Carter hits a fall away jumper. RA hits a 3 from the corner. Celtics double Jefferson. His pass goes out off Boston. Nets inbound with 5 on the SC. Kristic misses and Perk rebounds. KG draws a foul and goes to the line. He hits both FTs. Jefferson hits a jumper from the top of the key. KG hits a jumper. Carter hits on the baseline. RA passes on a shot and PP misses from the corner. Kidd with a long down court pass to Jefferson for a layup. KG misses a jumper and there are 3 Nets fighting for the rebound and they tip it in. Perk gets credit for it even though he wasn't at the hoop but was the closest Celtic. Time out with NJ up 16-15 and 4:35 left in the first

RJ hits the T. Nets inbound with 15 on the SC. Nets turn it over and Rondo dives to the floor for the ball. RA misses a 3 and Nets rebound. Carter hits a jumper. Tony shoots an airball from 3 and rebound goes out of bounds. House comes in and gets booed by the crowd. Jefferson drives down the lane for a huge dunk. Carter breaks up the pass and Celtics will inbound with 11 on the SC. House hits a jumper at the SC. CArter gets the ball inside but can't finish. Rondo with a nice pass inside to Tony but he misses the layup and Nets rebound. Offensive foul as Nachbar runs into RA. Celtics inbound and House brings it up. KG drives to the hoop along the baseline and is fouled. He hits both FTs. Carter misses a tthe buzzer. Score at the end of 1 is Nets 27 and Celtics 26

Armstrong misses. Rondo rebounds and takes it all the way to the hoop and lays it in. Magloire misses and Celtics rebound. Tony fouled by Carter as he drives baseline. He misses the first Hits the second. Wright hits a 3 from the top of the arc, RA misses ajumper and Nets rebound. Nachbar drives to the hoop and draws the foul on KG. Technical foul called on KG for complaining about the late whistle on the foul. Nets hit the T. Nachbar hits the first and PP comes in for Rondo. Nachbar misses and Tony rebounds. House with a pass inside to TOny but he had a foot out of bounds when he caught it. Carter hits a jumper over Tony. Nets go up by 5. KG backs in and lays it in off the glass. Carter misses and House grabs the rebound. Magloire called for a holding foul. Time out with Nets up 34-31 and 8:25 left in the half

PP throws it up as he is fouled by Wright. PP hits the first and misses the second. Big Baby rebounds. RA misses a 3 and Nets rebound. Wright is wide open in the lane and gets a dunk. Defense really broke down on that one. KG misses a jumper and Big Baby gets the rebound underneath in a crowd and is fouled. BB hits the first FT of his NBA career. He hits the second. Kidd hits a jumper from just inside the arc. Celtics turn it over. Nachbar hits a 3. PP drives down the land and draws a foul as he hits the short jumper. Time out with score tied at 41 and 5:10 left in the half

Rondo drives to the hoop and has it stripped. Celtics inbound with 2 on the SC. Rondo inbounds to KG who hits at the buzzer. Score at the half is Boston 59-52.
Celtics haven't been hitting their shots like they have been in the first 4 games, shooting only 48%. Also, they are missing defensive assignments and allowing the Nets too many easy baskets. Nets are shooting 47% but they have gotten too many easy layups. Celtics have been taking better care of the ball with only 4 turnovers so far. Perk did a good job of stayign out of foul trouble with only 2 at the half. The only Celtic close to foul trouble right now is Tony with 3. KG played 24 minutes and RA played all 24 minutes of the first half. This could come back to bite us if they wear out by the end of the game. Big Baby came in and played quite will with 4 points and 7 rebounds in 5 minutes.

Jefferson drives to the hoop and misses Perk rebounds and at the other end Perk gets the inside and lays it in. RJ misses a jumepr RA rebounds. Krstic called for a foul on RA as he drives to the hoop. He hits both FTs. Carter gets inside and draws the foul. Perk's 4th foul. He misses the first. BB comes in for Perk. He hits the second FT. Rondo drives and hands off to BB who can't finish. Nets rebound. Jefferson called for a kicked ball. Celtics get it back. PP's pass was too hard and Rondo fell out of bounds trying to retrieve it and Celtics turn it over. RA called for a foul. Nets inbound on the side. Carter's shot rims out and Celtics get the weak side rebound. RA is fouled as he drives baseline. Celtics inbound on the side. Collins with a block. Nets come away with it. Carter plows over BB under the basket and is called for an offensive foul. Rondo has it stripped in the lane and Nets come back the other way. 3 second violation called on the Nets. PP spins into the lane and hits a scoop shot in traffic. Jefferson called for a travel as he tries to make his way down the lane through traffic. PP misses a fall away from the FT line Nets rebound. Kidd misses a 3 and RA rebounds. Magloire blocks Garnett from behind Time out called with 6:55 left in the third and Celtics up 67-53
