Welcome to the forum fan33. I hope you stick around as this is one of the best forums around. You are most welcome. I am fortunate that I can watch the games but remember when I couldn't and would have loved a play by play to follow the game.

Hey there fan33. Welcome to the board.
I love the way we are attacking hte basket in transition and the unselfishness of guys. We are looking really good. I could write about every player but I think everyone showed something positive in this game.

OT: I fully appreciate the warm welcome here guys, as well as the high level of inciteful discussion, having lurked and so learned... My being 53, and a lifelong fan both of the Celtics themselves as well as the game, having a passion and drive to compeate myself albeit on my YMCA level with advancing age; I can say , I honestly love this stuff, reinvigorated by the obvious improvements to the men in Green this year... I can feel it, this year with both its cycles of ups and down, as happens within a particular game itself, is going to be one heck of a wonderful ride to witness... On Topic: 1. Certainly was a nice outing for Ray to get on track, as we knew he would, with 3 threes and high point production stats, SWEET! 2. Difficult to assess by writen reports[not having seen the game], but I take it the defensive pressure as a team is begining to gel with significant contrubutions from Posey and Perk.... / I'll now return to stealth status and enjoy the contrubutions of the veterans here, as I have been for awhile now... However, once my GamePlan for video transmission begins, of course I'll then have much more to contribute here Again, thanks for the warm welcome extended to this excieted Celtics fan from Rhode Island

I think Batista is still a few years away from being a regular rotation guy, but I do think we should give him a roster spot. I think he has the moxie to play at this level, now its just a matter of getting his footwork under him, and gaining confidence that he can compete against NBA big men.
I think he'll be a nice offensive player--not anything special, maybe not quite the level of Brezec (Bobcats), but maybe a better version of Vitaly Potapenko. And that's fine with me. I'm not expecting Batista to become a starter.

Batiata looked a little rough out there and needs work but he also shows potential. Because of his size and the fact that we really can't depend on Pollard, we need to keep him. I think working with Thibodeau, Clifford Ray and KG, he will be able to contribute this season.

I also think we must keep him, and cut Manuel and Wallace, he looks good for me 7p. 5r. that's good numbers for second center in the rotation

I think I would keep Wallace and cut Jones. Wallace is an intriguing player

Wouldn't hurt. This is for the 15th spot anyways, so we're not pressing for production from Brandon Wallace. He's younger than Dahntay Jones and is a better shot blocker--stick him in the D-League and see what becomes of him.

welcome to the best forum, I wanna hear for everybody what's your opinion of Batista's game I know Batman very well since i'm from Uruguay, he needs to work a lot to improve his deffensive game, he is a blackhole when you give him the ball, but he steals same or more than he has TO, he has a great timing for steals. He is very athletic, i know that he doesn't look like an athletic guy, but he is. If you wanna play some high low you must put him on court. He is like a bull when he goes to the board. He improved a lot since his firs season in the NBA, used to be fouled out in about 9 minutes, now he learned how to play in NBA and doesn't get so many calls. He didn't play a lot for the Hawsks last season because of a poor coaching, Woodson insisted to play Zaza as 5 when he is a 4, and used Lorenzen as the first option (my mother knows better than woodson) and insisted to make Batista a 4. Batman is a center, an undersized one, but still a center. He is a wrestler, and if you don't know ask Shaq; so this is truth that when Atlanta played against Miami and Houston Batista played 20 minutes. So i invite you to take a look at Batista's numbers against Shaq and Yao face to face in the last 2 seasons.

i agree Wallace has more upside right now. Jones best chance is to go to Europe and pull an Anthony Parker

I think I'm more on Mono74's side than I am on the side of those who say Batista is horrible.
I won't say that I think Batista is a beast cause that would imply that I think he's a really good player. But from what I've seen (and to be honest, I haven't seen much of him), he's got very good mobility for a guy his size. He moves well laterally (often getting down in a crouching position), and looks somewhat explosive attacking the rim. Did you guys see him throw down a big two handed dunk as a trailer on the fast break? Looks sort of Nene-like.
You can see that he's comfortable in the paint. In the last game, he didn't do much when he had the ball, but his body language implies that he's comfortable there--and that's a good start. Even the play in which he was stuffed by Big Al (who came on the weakside to help--otherwise, Batista would have scored easily), Batista knew what he was doing and where he was going.
Right now, as far as I can tell, I think Batista has 3 positives:
-excellent mobility -he's comfortable in the paint -he's not afraid to tangle
Our big man coaches (Clifford Ray, Tom Thibodeau, etc.) need to stress positional defense upon Batista. He may not be a shot blocking threat, but there's always the hope that he can be a good positional defender--using his body to get in the way of his man.
