Frankly, the Sonics never make this deal for just a draft pick and cap-filler. Allen may have been injured, but averaged 26.4 ppg and 26.8 ppg for the month of March, so it wasn't as if he was broken down and unproductive (though his sore ankles were starting to effect his FG%). You don't get a 7-time all-star coming off his highest scoring season without giving something valuable (other than a 5th pick which, even though this draft is highly regarded, does not guarantee an all-star player).
I personally would have kept the pick, but I can see why the trade was made. With Allen and Pierce, we can contend for a playoff spot, which will give all our remaining younger players a much higher quality of experience than they received last year playing in meaningless games.

The first thing people talked about after this was that Jeff Green was perfect for Durant and that now they would try to bring back Lewis, so I don't see why we had to give them Delonte to get a 32 year old hurt guy
