Basically trading our entire farm system for a 31 yr old All-star who can option out of his contract next season. Mark me down as a NO on this trade. Not to mention this trade doesn't even work using a trade checker.
What are your guys opinion about bringing KG to Boston even if it means trading away Big Al?

I think this is a smokescreen at best to get other teams to lower their asking price for their stars. There is no way on Earth this happens like this.

AL and the #5?!?!
heck no!!
I'd give up the #5 in a heartbeat with Theo and either Gomes and Perkins or Gomes and Green. (or whatever) but not Al and the #5 and perferably not Al to keep the #5.
yes I know some would oppose trading the #5 for a 31 year old but that ain't me. Here's an anology It's nice to have young tomato plants and watch them potentially grow into product plants with loads of nice big ripe tomatoes. however, after a while (saaay 4 years of Ainge as the head gardener) you want to start getting some ripe and ready to eat tomatoes. A chance to trade a few young plants to have a proven tomato plant is worth the trade. Sure the young tomato plant COULD grow to be better than the one you get (Although not likely in this case) and it most definitely will be around longer, but you gotta eat now and in the future, not just the future.
(yeah I stole the concept of that analogy from somewhere else but it makes sense)
I do think that you can't gut your team for 1 player, because 1 player doesn't make a team. But you do have to upgrade you talent when you can, because Talent wins in this league. YOu have to have a great player or several all-stars on your team to win a title. Although Paring Rondo, Delonte, Tony Allen, Pierce, Perkins, Gomes and KG doesn't sound all that horrible, It's not gonna do what every team should be trying to achieve, win a title.
p.s. for the record, Chad Ford is an idiot.

I don't like giving up Big Al for Garnett. Al is going to be pulling in Garnett numbers for years to come. He averaged a double double last season and is jut beginning to scratch the surface of his talent. Garnett is on the down side and will be able to opt out of his contract next season. So basically we are giving up Al for a 1 year rental of Garnett and we give up our future. I just don't like it. That being said, Henry Abbot on ESPN said this: myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-25-70/Speculation-About-Kevin-Garnett-to-Boston.html

Once I met this cool chick named Kathleen Reedy. Go ahead. Look her up. She's got disertations posted on line. And I think a pic or two as well. Everyone thought we were fooling around, and we thought that was hilarious, cause we weren't. Then on Halloween we did. We were in shock that their perception with no truth whatsoever had come true. I am starting to get the idea that "smart people" try to create these ideas hoping teams will hear about it and they will become self fulfilling prophesies.
Just say NO to stupid untrue trade ideas.
No matter how you look at it that is a top notch post

I would not sign off on that trade proposal. There ain't no way I'm giving up Sebastian Telfair!!! ;D
That proposal is asking for way too much. Our future is basically shot down if we give up Jefferson and Gerald.

This is laughable. We need to be patient. The Rashard Lewis deal seems to have some legs, and the the jermaine o'neal to the lakers seems to be dead. We have plenty of options.
I think we end up with lewis, i wasn't sold on him at first, but if we can gt him without giving up the number #5 pick im all for it.

Yeah, for the first time in many years, we seem to have a number of different ways to attack the trade scene and come out in good shape. Whether it be getting Rashard Lewis for penny's on the dollar, getting Joe Johnson for little more than our 5th pick (and we get back their 11th pick), or getting Shawn Marion (if Phoenix lowers their trade demand), we have an opportunity to come out with a good player, all the while keeping our core players (Pierce, Jefferson, Rajon, Gerald).

As far as that rumor of DA getting KG for Boston Harbor---what was that guy smoking? Or snorting?

One of the posters on espn had an interesting alternative:
"the c's trade green, ratliff, wally, telfair, #5 and minny's 1st rounder that the c's have the rights to from the davis deal, and their 1st rounder next year. minn trades, kg and jaric."
Now, under NBA rules, we couldn't trade this year and next year's pick, so it would be our 2009 pick, but this trade scenario would be more palpable -- which of course means Minny probably wouldn't go for it.

I wouldn't be surprise if the offered mention in Chad Ford's article is more of a beginning offer. I expect the final offer to be a little different. If Minny wants Al and 5th pick, I want to keep GG and get the 7th pick back in return (Draft Noah, Brewer,Green, Thornton, Or Hawes).
I like to have a lineup of:
PG - Rondo SG - Allen SF - Pierce PF - Garnett C - Hawes/Noah

but if we give up all that they are asking for, we have not bench depth. and I'd rather not give up Al and the #5 for anyone short of Lebron

Only way to get Lebron is trading for MJ in his prime. I would do Al J for KG without hesitation. My only problem with the trade is givng up 3 other assets just for one player.
