I don't see doing this trade as rumored by Chad Ford since Garnett can opt out in 2008 and become a free agent. It would be too much for us to give away for a one year rental. Given how much money he has already made, I can easily see Garnett opt out and sign with SA or Phoenix for the MLE so he can get a title -- and then where would we be?

Plus if Minnesota was serious about a youth movement and trading Garnett, why did they acquire J. Howard? It looks to be like McHale will try to build around Garnett one last time.

I don't think any team does a trade for KG without assurances he's gonna sign an extension.
Basically KG can nix any deal by telling the team he won't sign an extension with them.

If phoenix offers anything 1/2 way decent (it won't include Amare) KG most likely will pressure Minny to trade him there. He and Nash as friends or at least friendly towards each other.
