Actually, I think we've been tanking for the past week (or more).
Did you guys see the looks on the faces of Telfair, Gerald, Leon, etc., when the game ended? They were ticked off and cursing in astonishment (bewilderment is more like the word). They were playing hard to win and felt they could have iced the game being down only 2 with more than enough time remaining. But on that final possession, instead of calling timeout (I'm sure we had a timeout remaining), we charged on with a play to run. Of course the young players were going to be anxious and excited, and they couldn't set up for a good shot and we lost as Telfair's desperation three was off to the left.
I honestly have felt we've been tanking since they put Jefferson and Pierce on the shelves.

Ainge is going to reward Doc for his splendid coaching performance by giving him an extension. Then Pierce is going to throw Doc under the bus. Then Ainge trades Pierce and #5 to Seattle for Craig Wilcox and Earl Watson and their pick for Roy Hibbert. NICE! We are going to be terrible until the front office and coach both change.
We will get the 5th pick unless Stern makes the unprecedented move of confisgating draft picks for tanking. That would not surprise me either. In which case, I declare war on the NBA.

I don't necessarily think Ainge is the proponent to keep Doc here. He may just be saying things like this to appear to be on Doc's side, so that there won't be any negative feelings between he and Doc.
