I could live with AI on our team. I'll take back past rants... Not that I want to lose kids to get him, but where do we go?
I could see Brian, Delonte and T Allen being moved for AI, even if we add a draft pick to top it off.
Who do you see in a trade for AI?

From all reports, it seems like AlJeff is the centerpiece. I say boo to that.

Al, Perk, Rondo, Gomes, West, Powe, and Green are all on my do not trade list. But even if we could get him for Ratliff, and Scal, I still don't want him here. He is a cancer in Philly and will be one here too.

Send Poisen Ivy out west to Sacremento where he can be cell mates with Ron Artest.
or Send Poisen Ivy to Minnesota for RD and Mr Blonut.
or Send Poisen Ivy to Indiana for Stephon Jackson and Jamaal Tinsley.
My best and final offer for the Question Mark is West (or Telfair), Scalabrine, Allen, and Ratliffe and no draft picks. You may not take Jefferson, Green, Gomes, Perkins, or Rondo away from me. Have a nice day Philadelphia.

Here's an idea. Since we're only talking about a gold medal HOF player and all our young guys are going to be all-stars some day why don't we offer them nothing. Let's just offer nothing. Actually let's take this farther. Since Al J is going to be the next Karl Malone and GG is going to be the next Tracy McGrady, and Bassy will be Isiah Thomas, and Rondo will be Nash, and Perk will be Ben Wallace and everyone else will be awesome too why don't we just offer to send them PP for free. That way Philly can be the dominant East team for the next 4 years but after that we'll explode onto the scene with the new version of the dream team. We don't need all stars. We don't need gold medal players. We have lots and lots of potential. That will win us lots of championships. I mean who cares that our players have done nothing in 3 years since high school other than stub their toe. For any problem we have just say "potential" and that'll solve it. Health problems? potential Way too many TOs? Potential No defense? Potential Doc as a coach? Potential Perk can't score? Potential PP won't pass? Potential PP will still be around as well as Scala for years to come? Potential.
See? It solves all problems. So what that another team is willing to trade proven gold medal production for potential. Potential is more valuable than one of the best players in the league. What is Philly thinking to want something back for a player like that? Don't they know how valuable potential is?

Bad morning, Eja? Jefferson and Gerald are now starting to have big games here and there. They are beginning to take their first steps toward bigger and better things. You seriously want to throw that away just for a minute window of opportunity to win a championship now? We are finally beginning to see some of that dreaded P-word turn into something and you are rehashing the "potential" debate all over again?
I think Iverson should go to the Wolves. This is McHale's last stand anyways. KG is going to bolt if they don't make the playoffs this season so whether Iverson pans out or not, its a move he has to take.

Ainge is at the game tonight in New York, and I think it has to do with the fact that he wants to get a good look at our guys to reasses what we have on the team. I think he's re-evaluating our guys to see which ones he's going to keep and which ones he's willing to trade. There's no way he's scouting NY's player because he's not going to trade with them.
Whoever is being shopped around (Delonte and Telfair have been mentioned, as is Jefferson) need to have big games tonight while Ainge is watching.

I agree with EJA. I'm tired of hearing about potential. While other teams are in the playoffs, we'll be sitting here discussing how much potential we have. People the eastern conference stinks this year, we have a chance to seize the division with this move. I think people are overreacting to what we might have to part with. Remember the sixers are dealing from a position of weakness. Danny has to make the celtics relevant again. The celtics are nothing more than a bridge between the pats season and red sox spring training.
I think it will be big al, ratliff (expiring contract) and west maybe.
I'm tired of mediocrity, time to make a move to get us over the top.

But you have to see that the potential players are starting to rise. Its not that they aren't growing. If Doc had any guts to play Jefferson and Green 35 mpg, we'd be seeing a whole lot more out of them.
Its one thing if after 5 years, Green and Jefferson are still only bench players, getting 15 mpg. But its totally another thing when these kids are growing and developing their potential. Al Jefferson, despite being a bench guy for most of the year, is now leading the team in rebounding (8 rpg) in only a tad over 24 mpg. He's now slid into the starting rotation and is going to make it hard for Doc to decide what to do when Perk gets ready to step back onto the court. Either Doc will have Perk come off the bench, or have Gomes come off the bench.

Nope. Don't see it. What I see is that GG has one game in double digits all year. I see if either GG or Al had the stat lines Gomes has had we'd all be jumping out of our seats. So why the double standard against Gomes? I don't want to do this deal. I want to see more of what we got. I want Scala and our older vets to stop getting minutes at the expense of younger players I think are better. I want to see what happens with the draft. But I'm not under any illusions that Al can be some great big man some day or that GG is the next Lebron, or that Ai won't be a great player for years to come while our pword guys are still struggling. i'm not saying trade all our youth. But maybe one of them.
Derren get some perspective. Back in the summer when we were considering trading for Ai and nobody wanted to what would you have said if I had told you at the time "If you don't trade for Ai, when you get into December you'll be 7-13 in your first 20 games. Al will get beat out by Gomes. Al won't start until there are a lot of injuries. After the first 20 games GG will have had one game in double digit points. TA will be playing poorly. Rondo will be getting almost no time at all. Powe will be getting even less. West will still be chugging along and getting minutes, but his shooting will be down. Perk will take a step back. Ray won't see the court. Telfair will be doing ok, but nothing special. Gomes will really step his game up"
Then would you have wanted to trade some of our youth for Ai? I would have.

AI is a shoot first guard. Will destroy our team chemistry. Though, he is one heck of a player, and much better than I ever envisioned.

People the eastern conference stinks this year, we have a chance to seize the division with this move. I could care less about winning the division. I want a title contender. trading for Ai would lock us into a 35-45 win team for the forseeable future. But would this move really get us over the top? Would having two guards that have to have the ball in their hands to be effective lead us to the title? Personally, I think a Ratliff, AlJeff, West, Telfair trade is a fair deal talent-wise. AI is one hell of a player. But I jsut dont think that he'd really make us a whole lot better. His only successful year in Philly he was surounded by unselfish, defensive minded vets. It would take Danny quite a while to manufacture a solid vet supporting cast after trading a lot of our kids, and time is def. not in AI's favor. A combonation of AI and Pierce making 20 mil a year doesnt sound like a winning combonation to me.

How do we know Ai has to have the ball in his hands when he has always been the only good player on his team. There's never been anyone good to pass to. Korver and Iguodala still get their points and so did Webber. The only guy he didn't pass to was Jerry Stackhouse when they were 20 and 21 years old and he was trying to win rookie of the year and was scoring on MJ, and was one of the most exciting guys around. He still averaged a respectable amount of assists and always has, even when he plays sg. That was a long time ago.

Iverson's game is predicated to dominating the ball. He isn't a go with the flow, catch and shoot type of guy. I'm not saying that's a bad thing (the guy is one of the best scorers of all time), but don't expect him to be come a team player on the offensive end all of a sudden. Also, its not like we have a lot of great players either. Besides Pierce, we are a pretty untalented team.
