at [glow=green,2,300]Time 7:30 TV: FSNE, LP Ch751 Radio: WRKO [/glow] Probable Starters Point Guard vs This match-up stays all in the family as Sebastian Telfair will likely start against his cousin, Stephon Marbury. There's always been something of a rivalry between these two, and while it's only preseason, you have to think that both guys are excited about the fact that they'll be facing each other four times in the regular season, as well as twice in the preseason. While Marbury is more of scoring point guard, Telfair takes the pass-first mentality, and he'll be looking to force the tempo early to get the Celtics running offense off the ground. Shooting Guard vs Wally had a pretty impressive outing in Manchester, NH on Friday, scoring 21 points in just under 20 minutes. Doc Rivers said after the game that Wally did what his young guys need to learn, and that's shoot when they're open, something Szczerbiak has done his whole career. For the Knicks, Steve Francis has a sore right knee and didn't play against Philly, so he may sit again tonight. In his place, Jamal Crawford had a nice game against the Sixers, dropping 21 points and handing out five assists. That said, he's an undersized guy against whom bigger guards like Szczerbiak will usually try to post up. Small Forward vs Jalen Rose Points: 0.0 Rebounds: 1.0 Assists 1.0 The small forward spot will be manned by a pair of reserves tonight, as Jarred Jeffries (non-displaced fractured left wrist) and Paul Pierce will both sit out with injuries. Jeffries is expected to be out until the regular season, while Pierce plans to be back in action Wednesday night against the Nets at the Garden. So look for Jalen Rose and Gerald Green to get the nod at MSG. Green has shown he can come in off the bench and score almost immediately; the question is, has his defense improved enough over the offseason to keep him on the floor for extended periods? Look for the Knicks to go to Rose to find out. Power Forward vs Frye had a solid rookie season before a sprained left knee ligament ended his year, but the 6'11" forward will get plenty of chances to show that he can improve on his first year. Frye has bulked up this offseason and there's a concern he may have lost some of the quickness that made him so effective last year, but he may need that extra meat on his otherwise wiry frame to stay healthy. Center vs With Ratliff nursing a sore lower back, Perkins will likely make the start in New York against Eddy Curry, another big with all sorts of potential. Curry had a strong game against Philadelphia on Saturday, dropping 25 points to go with 10 rebounds in just 26 minutes. Perkins doesn't have the same sort of offensive game that Curry does, but he can block shots and change shots in the paint when he's on top of his game. He has his best effort in the opening preseason tilt with Cleveland (10 points and 7 rebounds in 19 minutes) but hasn't shown much in the last two games The Knicks are looking to make some noise this season under Isaiah and won't be the same team that was the doormat of the NBA last season. Keys to the Game: Get the running game going Limit Turnovers Play Defense Rebound Play of Reserves With Pierce, Scal, West and Telfair out tonight, we should see more of the players who are on the cusp and may get cut to help Doc decide on which players will be cut and which will stay.

Looking forward to the game. Lets see if we push the tempo more in this game, since we've been practicing with a 12 second shot clock in practice.
So Gerald is starting? Seemed like Doc was hinting toward starting Allan Ray. I'm looking for Gerald to have a big game. Doc wants the players to take open shots, so Gerald needs to take advantage.
Sebastian had his best game as a Celtic in our last game (vs. CLE) and I hope to see him build upon that performance (16 pts, 7 assts, 2 TO's).
Rajon commented that he didn't do his job defensively as he should have against the Cavs. I think we can expect him to come up with 8 steals tonight!!!
Hope Luke Jackson gets into the game and give Boston fans another thing to get excited for. I really like this kid.

Celtics.com has Green starting, but they have been wrong before so Ray may still start.

I'd rather have Gerald start.
Interesting that Doc views Ray more of a PG, and not a 2. From what I've seen of him at 'Nova and in the summer league, he's not sharp with his dribbling and his passing is so so.
But I guess since he's going to focus playing Delonte more at the 2, he needs to get Ray playing more like a 1 in order for him to have some playing time.

A look at our 3 games thus far shows a trend.
Against Cleveland (1st game) we pulled down 48 boards and were +7 in that category, and we won by 16.
Against Toronto (2nd game), we pulled down 42 boards and were +4 in that department, but we lost by 6 in overtime.
Against Cleveland (3rd game), we pulled down only 35 boards and were outrebounded by 9, and we lost by 11.
Rebounding is key, and if Doc is going to go small a lot, he needs to make sure the guys are rebounding.

I think Doc just means becuase of Ray's size (6'2") he is more of a point guard and has a smaller guards body, but because we have Telfair and Rondo and they have the point guard spot locked up, Ray will see time as a SG ala Delonte.

That's great Eddie!! I too am a bit envious. Cheer really loud for me. Right now I am staring at a blank screen because it is raining out and I don't have a DTV signal. Hopefully the rain will let up soon so I can watch the game.
I did catch on the pregame show before the rain started that Doc may start Allan Ray and Kandi tonight. I swear that Doc will do anything not to give Perk his minutes.

Yeah, what's up with that? Perk hasn't seem much time on the court so far (and neither is Al). We need rebounders.

Signal is off and on. I will start the play by play when the signal stays on... I have the Knicks' feed on and the Knicks announcers are among my least favorite. Still off and on ... I wish this rain would go away!!!!!

I don't have live feed, but I do have Yahoo Sports ;D
Telfair with the hot hand early on, scoring 9 pts in 6 minutes (4 for 4). Seems like whenever he plays in NY, he goes off.
Gomes has 4 points. Perk comes off the bench and already pulls down 2 boards.
We are up 20 - 14 with 5:24 in the first quarter.
