I remember the word about talks breaking down and possibility of a sign and trade, but missed the point about Boston being a suitor.
I like the idea of trading a 2 more than trading a 4-5.
Don't guess anyone ahs seen anything recent about Allen?

I seriuosly doubt Booz is going back to Clevland unless it's a trap and they are planning on eating him at a banquet in Lebron's honor just cause they love him so much and are going to shower him with love the next 3 years. Now there's a team that shoud trade for KG.

Q, you would trade Jefferson for Gooden? No way... I would possibly trade WAlly and Allen for him. That would work out. Although Wally is the better player. But we have a glut at that position and could utilize Gooden's services.

I would trade Wally and Tony for Gooden. I would hate giving up Tony Allen because he's a tough defensive player and we all know we need better defense. But we need help upfront and Gooden gives us that proven veteran rebounder and scorer. In the backcourt, we have terrific players who can fill the void left by Wally and Tony. For one, Delonte will be playing more SG this year and he's a terrific shooter to replace Wally. And we also have Gerald Green, who will be looking for more minutes this year. And finally, Allan Ray could be a big steal for us as an undrafted free agent. He's also a terrific shooter.

This was posted on the internet:
Bob Finnan of the Morning Journal had this to say about the Gooden sign and trade rumors:
If the Cavaliers are forced to execute a sign-and-trade deal for restricted free agent Drew Gooden, they’ll need to get back a starting-quality power forward.
One rumored deal has the Bulls sending Michael Sweetney and point guard Chris Duhon to the Cavaliers.
‘’It’s a possibility we’re interested in,'’ agent Calvin Andrews told Chicago reporters. ‘’We haven’t talked too much about that happening. It’s up to the Cavs. If something would come up with the Bulls, it would interest us, definitely.'’
Another possibility is to Boston for guard Delonte West and/or Theo Ratliff or Ryan Gomes.
Some people are very against this trade and don't want to see it happen. I'm not one of them. I think its a deal worth making. If we can give Cleveland Theo Ratliff and Delonte West for Drew Gooden (and replacing Gomes for Ratliff will not work because the salaries won't match up), it would be a good deal.
I'm happy with Delonte, but I'm looking at the big picture. We have a lot of talent at the 2, which is where he will be getting most of his playing time as soon as Telfair and Rondo get comfortable running the show. Wally will still be here and behind of him are Gerald Green, Tony Allen, and Allan Ray.
We lack depth at the 4 and 5, which is exactly where Gooden will be situated. I'm much more comfortable with a trio of Perk, Jefferson, and Gooden instead of Perk, Jefferson, and Ratliff. We'll never know when Ratliff will be injured. Gooden is young (only 25), has 4 years under his belt, and can be a double double guy if he gets the minutes. He's very durable (only missed 6 games in his career so far) and is one of the league's best offensive rebounder (10th in the league last season).
He's far from the ideal guy I would choose for Ainge to go after, but getting a quality big man is no easy task. Drew Gooden gets no love around the league, but he is a player. Same thing about Rasheed Wallace. Like him or not, he can produce.
Losing Ratliff to get Gooden is no big loss, in my book. Losing Delonte to get Gooden is sad, just because Delonte is a consumate teammate and exudes Celtic pride. But we have the depth at SG to get by if we lose him, and Gooden will upgrade our frontcourt and give depth at the 4 and 5, which we lack.
Its a deal that I think we should make.

I would trade Wally and Allen for Gooden ... but don't want to trade West to get him and don't think we should trade Ratliff... We need to keep our bigs ....

I'm sure Cleveland will ask for Delonte and not Tony Allen because Ferry likes shooters. I would move either Tony or Delonte, whoever they'd want, not because I don't like them, but because if we want to get a quality player, we will have to give up a quality player.
Ratliff missed 46 games the past 2 years. I don't know for certain if he missed time because of injuries, but I do think it is. He's 33 years old and won't be in the league for much longer.
If we don't make the trade for Gooden and instead hold onto Ratliff, he may only play for a bit longer before he needs to retire. With Gooden, he's young and if he plays another 8 years, he will only be 33 years old (the same age that Ratliff is now).
I would use Wally as a trade piece instead of Ratliff, but the writer for the Morning Star said that they are looking for a PF in return. If we are trying to entice the Cavs to take Wally and Tony, I think they will probably ask for Ryan Gomes in the deal to get their PF. Ryan Gomes is a guy I don't want to lose.
FL, I'm thinking that we don't have many options to choose from to upgrade our frontcourt depth. This deal is probably the least costly because we won't have to include Jefferson or Gerald.

I'd rather wait a year to see what Al can do before we commit financially to another PF.

Dumping Wally would also allow the c's to start West at the 2. If we want to be a running team, I think we need to dump Wally. And west would be a really good starting 2 imo.. I'd like to see htis lineup.
PG-Telfair, backup Rondo SG-West, backup Ray SF-Pierce, backup Green/Gomes PF-Jefferson, backup Gooden/Gomes C-Perkins, backup Ratliff/Jefferson
That would give us some distributers, some shooters, some post play and rebounding, some athleticism, and some defense imo... We are just lacking in the experience aspect.

At this point I would put Wally, Allen, and Scal in the excess fat category. Everyone else on the C's roster I'd like to keep. It would be nice if Danny could turn those guys into someone fairly valuable.

I doubt that anyone will give much for Allen until his troubles are over.
