Got this on my Direct TV schedule. I believe the first game will be televised at 8 pm central time on NBA TV.
MSG is televising all of the Knicks games.... Too bad we don't play the Knicks. As far as I can tell FSNE won't be televising any of the games.
Summer League: Boston Celtics vs. Toronto Raptors From Las Vegas.

Thanks for posting the schedule, FL.
FYI, here are the notable players on the rosters of the teams we will be facing (televised games):
Toronto Raptors: Anrea Bargnani, PJ Tucker, Joey Graham, Kris Humphries, Justin Gray (we should win this game, though may be one of our tougher matchups)
Denver Nuggets: John Gilchrist, Casey Jacobsen, Kelena Azubuke (I don't perceive any trouble with this team)
Detroit Pistons: Frank Williams, Will Blalock, Nik Caner-Medley, Rick Rickert, Amir Johnson, Jason Maxiel (sounds like a strong enough team to give us fits)
(non-televised games)
Dallas Mavericks: Maurice Ager, Andre Emmit, Pavel Podkolzin, Josh Powell (no problem beating this team)
LA Clippers: Daniel Ewing, Yaroslove Korolev, Guillermo Diaz, Shaun Livingston, Jawad Williams, Paul Davis (this is legitimately the team that could deter us from having a perfect record)

I thought Delonte was going to be participating in the summer league also, no? Not that he really needs to, but it would be nice to see where his use of his right hand is at this point, and how he's developing his pick and roll game.
But I guess this allows us to really concentrate on playing Telfair and Rondo at the point.

I saw the Celtic's roster on the summerleague website, and West's name was not on it. I suppose with Telfair, Rondo and Allan on the roster, they had that position covered. It will be interesting to see how Jefferson looks out there playing with Telfair.

When they said that Al would play in the summer league they announced that Delonte wouldn't. They said that after being a starter last year he really didn't need to participate.

At the end of the first half.... Boston 53 and Dallas 46 First half against the Mavs.... Sounds like everyone did well except for Jefferson. Maybe he is trying too hard. But sounds like Telfair, Rondo, Gomes and Green all looked great. Here is a link to Draft Express's Coverage www.draftexpress.com/viewarticle.php?a=1397

Comments on Gomes sound a little like what I remember regarding Reggie Lewis in his post-rookie season.

Interesting. Cs only have one center. Jones played 9 minutes. Jefferson played 21 minutes. Wilkinson played 1 minute. So they must have had not only a small backcourt but also a small frontcourt.

This came through JB's CelticsStuff group ... some good observations first hand.
From: keltsfan@comcast.net Date: 07/08/06 17:52:34 To: Celticsstuffgroup@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Celtics' Stuff ] summer league
Had the pleasure of catching the Celtics' first summer league game this afternoon as I was in Vegas for a wedding. Gomes looks great. Quicker off the dribble and has expanded the range on his jumper. A very vocal leader on the court as well. Has taken the entire summer league team under his wing. He's a man among boys. It'd be a shame if Ainge trades this kid. Telfair is a true point guard with a great handle and above average passing skills. Sees the floor extremely well and is able to penetrate and dish like this team hasn't had in a long while. Needs work on the defensive end. Shot was falling today. Some concerns about his attitude and how he will fit with his teammates if and when they or he struggles. Rondo is an Orien Green with superb ball handling skills. As well, he possesses the vocal leadership skills that Green lacked. Shot needs a lot of work. No confidence in it under game conditions. Allan Ray makes Delonte West a tradeable commodity. Shooter in the mold of Vinnie Johnson without the explosive athleticism. Lit it up off the bench. First impression is quite positive. This kid has a beautiful shot. Al Jefferson looks in much better physical condition. Still having trouble with double teams and still cannot stop himself from slapping at the ball on defense or leaving his feet. Still not convinced he's going to become the player that showed so much promise as a rookie. Gerald Green is lost. Winded easily, no defense, lost on offense and defense. When his shots not falling he's an emotional basketcase. When rookies like Rondo are telling Green where he should be on the court, it's not a good sign. But the struggles he's having right now could be the best thing to happen to him. He needs to learn how to handle adversity and strive to use it to get better. Hopefully, he realizes he's going to have to work his butt off if he wants to compete in this league. Ravi

The guys who got lots of time---30 plus minutes---were Telfair, Rando, Green, and Gomes. Not exactly the prototype lineup.
Telfair's 6 turnovers looks to be the worst part of the game. Can only imagine how some of them happened.

Not surprise Ryan Gomes exploded in the summer league. We know Gomes can get 12 pts 7 rebs per game against regular nba competition. If he had a 3-pt shot in his offense I would definitely get rid of wally without even thinking.
Al hasn't played a regular basketball game since last season (didn't play last 30 games). so, I kind of didn't expect him to put Gomes type numbers. Definitely give the kid a few more games before making a judgement.
Samething as last year with Green, made a few baskets but look completely lost on defense. Not sure what his offense look like but from what I've been reading some say He's an offensive God while some say hes a highlight reel junkie.
Telfair dominated the SL last year and it looks like he'll do it again. I'm just hoping Telfair can atleast fill 90% of the hype he had in hs.
Rondo = Defensive stopper.
Far as the rest goes, too early to tell. It's always good to win the first SL game. But, we're talking about SL games not a regular season game.
