Because our bench was not producing, Ime used them less in the Finals (which further stressed our starters).
Plain and simple, we need a stronger and deeper bench. And we can do that in two ways:
- internal improvements from DWhite, GWill, Pritch, Theis, Nesmith and Hauser. - acquire clear upgrades (don't have cap space this summer and there aren't a lot of worthy free agents. We might not see anything to get excited about. Next summer, Al's contract is done, giving up more cap space, and thrmere will be more worthy free agents).

First question, how much improvement can we get out of Derrick, Grant, Payton, Aaron and Sam? (I left out Theis because he's pretty much maxed out).
Of these guys, who can we reasonably expect to see significant improvement from?

And we still have this young PG waiting in the wings. Not sure when he's coming over. His speed, athleticism and spring is going to help us at guarding opposing Points. Seems to have good feel for the game, and his jumper is coming around.

I've been following Madar and the box score numbers aren't very impressive. I've started to wonder if he's really NBA material. Hoping he plays summer ball so we can see him again.

Have we successfully brought anyone into our rotation that was stashed overseas?
For our current bench, I only like D White - though I wonder if the sweet spot would be to only have one of Smart or White as opposed to both.

Being young (21), his development is still underway. He's competing against grown men who are more physical and developed. I mean, even Lamelo Ball's numbers weren't good in the NBL. What I see is a player who has been placed on senior teams since he was 17 years old and has more held his own.

That question crossed my mind -- how would DWhite do if he was the starting PG (in the event that Smart is traded)?

I think he'd do about as well. IMO Smart's advantage over White is with the bigger, stronger players. DW did ok on Curry. Or as ok as anyone else did.

We could switch Smart on PF's and even Centers at times. DWhite won't be able to do that. Derrick can process plays a tick faster than Smart. And his ego is not as big as Smart's (Smart thinks of himself as a #3 when he's really a #5).

Sad to say, but I think Pritch will be traded this summer. He doesn't give us much height and he has a hard time creating his own shot.
Ime likes to keep a fairly short rotation (9 guys mostly) so a taller backup PG/SG who can defend and shoot is ideal.

im hoping we combine theis, nesmith, some of those unguaranteed rookie deals and maybe a pick or 2 to get an impact wing.

I know we've had interest in Gallinari in the past. Don't know how he'll affect our defense, but should be a boost offensively over Theis.
ATL is going to waive him to clear 16 mil.

He certainly fills the role of shooter who can get his shot off easily, being 6'10". Pretty much a 40% shooter from 3 over the past several years.
