Hmmm... not sure what to think, even if this trade is just a rumor.
On the one hand, we'll have one of the strongest, if not THE strongest, wing combination in the NBA in Pierce and Artest--two of the stronger wing players around.
But on the other hand, we lose a ton of athleticism by losing Ricky and Tony Allen. In particular, I'm kind of hesitant abou this trade because I'm a fan of Tony Allen, and not only is he an exceptional defender, but he has a lot of intangibles that we haven't seen yet. He and Delonte will work well together.
Well, we'll see what becomes of this rumor. Says that it will go down on Monday, so if nothing happens tomorrow, we'll know that its not all its cracked up to be.

Sorry to burst your bubble DM. We already discussed this bogus trade rumor in another thread. Not true. Sorry.

The guy that posted the rumor has been in the celtics chat room most of the night and he swears it is true. And he has been adament even though taking a lot of heat that his friend works PR for the Celts and told him this. Not sure what to believe right now but really don't want Artest here. He has singlehandedlly ruined two seasons for the Pacers and don't see any reason for him not to ruin the Celts with his selfishness and psychotic behavior.

If his sources doesn't fall through he might as well stop posting on message boards because no one is going to believe one word he says. Far as Artest goes, it's definitely a huge risk far as team chemistry goes. But, he is the type of player that'll go to war for his team every night. He's exactly like DW i.e. the hustle plays and making the small plays that count. But with all that said, is it worth giving up Tony Allen and RD to get him? He might only be here for the next 2-3 years and then he's gone to play with the Knicks. If he's here for the long hall we're looking the best wing tandem in the NBA by far. And our defense will go from one of the worst to the middle pack or possibly top 5 defenses in the NBA. Artest is a top 20 player when tamed. Question is, are we crazy enough to take that risk?

A mature team, perhaps worth the risk. Though, the Celtics are young and unstable.

A mature team, perhaps worth the risk. Though, the Celtics are young and unstable. I agree roadrunner. I don't like bringing Artest in, especially if we have to give up Ricky and Tony. He has destroyed a good Indiana team and since our team is so young I don't think bringing in a loose cannon would be good. Besides, if Danny brings him in there goes all his talk about building character and professionalism for the players. I just don't see it. Besides, I am sure the brain doc must have found some bizarre typing there.

Just say no to Ron Artest. I maintain he goes out west somewhere because Bird will not willingly trade him to a EC opponent.

www.nypost.com/sports/59477.htmVescey said in today's post that he has 3 sources who say that an Artest for Peja trade is very close. Indy is all for it and it is Sactown's call as to whether it goes down. With all the rumors going around, I always thought he would go out west. Larry is too smart to trade him to a conference rival. That is just my opinion. I personally don't care where he goes just so it isn't Boston.

Saw a rumor out there that we might trade Blount out west to Seattle, in exchange for Flip Murray and his expiring contract. Maybe Ainge is trying to work this trade a bit deeper so that it includes Robert Swift?

I don't doubt that Ainge is still trying to get Swift. This may have to do with Minny wanting an expiring contract back for Kandi and maybe it will be a 3 team trade with the Wolves. I think once the Artest trade goes down others will fall in like dominoes. Everyone is waiting for that one to settle out before pulling the trigger on any other.

I get the feeling that there's going to be a huge multi team trade, involving all the players talked about in the rumors (Artest, Blount, Peja, etc). That's why no one's been able to make a trade yet--things are being worked out.

Maybe Ainge is trying to work this trade a bit deeper so that it includes Robert Swift? Don't see how we would need Flip, and Ainge seems to be truly obsessed with Swift. With Perkins, I really do not see the huge desire for Danny to acquire him. Maybe Danny feels he will be an All-Star center years down the road. But I see that in Perk's potential as well. Don't understand the logic with this trade.

Yeah, I just don't understand his desires for Robert Swift. Nothing about him really stands out. But I cannot discount Ainge's scouting ability. I would really like to sit down with Ainge on his scouting trips and see what he looks for. I have my own things I look for, but I want to see it like Ainge sees it.
As for Flip, I think he's an excellent scorer, but he'll take time away from Orien and Tony Allen, so even though he's an expiring contract and a solid scorer, I'd pass. But Ainge might do it if we can get Robert Swift.

This Swift thing is outta hand. I'm afraid DA is just in love with him in a completely irrational way. I envision him coming here and Perk collapsing the dude's lung on the first day of practice. Just reducing him to tears. Upon which DA gives Swift a hug, trades away Perk, and annoints Swift the new stater. I think he might be the only player in the league worse than Raef.
