Kevin Durant officially asks to be traded out of BRK.

That says a lot about how he feels about playing with Kyrie. A day after Kyrie opts in, KD asks out?

What do you all think -- does Brad and Ime have real interest in trading for him?

Who are the other half of the league that didn't inquire?

We'd almost have to trade either Jaylen or Jayson to make it work wouldn't we? I think the age difference between either of them and KD is too big. Suddenly our long window becomes much shorter. I'd be surprised but not totally shocked.

Who are the other half of the league that didn't inquire? Start with the teams already lining up to tank next season for the Wembanyama sweepstakes. Like the Spurs.

It's a tough one - Brad mentioned how fragile chemistry is and asking Tatum to potentially be 2nd fiddle to Durant and the increased media scrutiny is a big risk (assuming you trade Brown). I don't see it making sense but I wouldn't be mad about it if Brad made the move. I'd rather stick with the young guys and compete for hopefully 5+ years. Then again, maybe Durant proves me wrong and is still on top of his game at 38 like Lebron

This is a very hard decision to make.
If we keep the team intact as is (and just improve the edges), it's not a guarantee we win a championship. Getting Durant and pairing him with Tatum could boost our chances.
But Durant is getting up there in age.
But it's no guarantee that Jaylen stays here beyond his current contract (he may want to be [HASH]1 on another team).
Bottom line is it is hard to win a championship. You do what you can to get one.

I seem to remember that when we traded for KG and Ray in summer 2007 the general thinking was that we had a 3 year window. Danny was willing to trade a fairly young Al Jefferson and a bunch of other decent young guys for a chance to compete in the short run.

Durant can push Tatum in a way that Jaylen just cannot.

I'm still sad KG got that knee injury and dropped off production-wise. What could've been in 09 & 10.
I agree - you can't complain if the moves bring you a title. 8 years of being championship contenders can still be 8 years of losing.

I'm asking myself, how would it improve (or not) our team next year if we added KD and subtracted JB and either Smart, White, or a package of minor players?
Let's just focus on KD vs JB. We'd have better passing, fewer turnovers, be even "longer" on D, shoot better, rebound better. (I'm starting to talk myself into this.) Maybe playing with JT would prolong KD's career as they'd be sharing the scoring load.
I think my two main concerns are how long our championship window would be, and how would we fill out our roster if we have to include multiple players. I think we'd be ok if we could do it for JB plus either Smart or White.
Hmmm. Certainly not a no-brainer for me.

With or without Durant (most likely without), Brad's priority is to make us stronger than we were last year.
Guys need to come back better also.
