We need another shot creator -- especially in these high intensity playoff defensive battles. To me that's the achille's heel of this team. When we enter the final two minutes of a close team against a good defense we consistently struggle to create good shots.

Can we chalk it up to age, or maybe JT and JB aren't going to be reliable in this situation. We need a closer.

I still think we need a floor general. It feels like we've been watching the same movie for years at the end of tight games. Basically we live and die by the 3.

But in crunch time, the ball is going to be in the hands of your best player, and Tatum is used as a Point forward facilitator. Either Tatum becomes a cold blooded closer, or we acquire someone who will be that guy.

The ball can go to Tatum, but he doesn't have to start out beyond the arc. It would be helpful if someone could get him the ball in better spots so he doesn't have to dribble so much. Same with Jaylen. We should be able to get him the ball in a place where he can turn and shoot or do one dribble and take it strong to the hoop. Curry and Klay frequently get off a clean shot without a single dribble. We could learn something from the GS offense.

Nesmith's future ( www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2022/06/18/celtics-role-players-nba-finals-comments-derrick-white-payton-pritchard-grant-williams-aaron-nesmith/?p1=hp_secondary ) One Celtics role player who had trouble finding consistent playing time this season was guard Aaron Nesmith. Udoka choose not to play Nesmith in 16 games during the regular season and in many of the games he did play, he only played when the score was lopsided. Billed as a knock-down shooter when the Celtics selected him 14th overall in the 2020 draft, Nesmith shot 39.6 percent from the field and 27 percent from behind the arc in his second season. Nesmith knows he has to get better if he wants to find minutes in Udoka’s rotation next season. “I need to become, overall, a better basketball player and get my shot back to where it needs to be,” Nesmith said. “That’s pretty much the main two things. Get my shot back to where it was last season, and before I got here, and just get back to the drawing board pretty much.” Nesmith isn’t sure if he’ll play in the Summer League in July but he plans on remaining in Boston this summer to work on his game with the Celtics’ coaching staff. He’s looking forward though to the break he’s about to have before getting back into the swing of things. “I kind of just need to take a mental break and take a step away, to get back to doing what I do at a high level,” Nesmith said. “I think a lot of it’s not physical, it’s mental. So that’s why being able to take a break from basketball for 10 days or two weeks before getting back into it should be beneficial for me heading into next season. Advertisement: “I’m still very confident in my shot. I’m a phenomenal shooter. I know that, the team knows that, the coaching staff knows. In practice, it’s there, but soon as the game starts, it’s just pressing and putting more pressure on each shot I take because I haven’t been making them.” In college, Nesmith shot 41 percent from 3, and as a rookie, he made 37 percent of his 3-pointers. Whether Nesmith finds his shot again remains to be seen, but after how the Celtics shot in their biggest games of the season, he could certainly crack the rotation again if he does." To me, this is good to hear. He has the physical ability, and apparently his shot is still there in practice. If he can relax, he's back in the rotation because he plays defense and rebounds at a high level. We're all looking for another shooter and between him and Hauser, maybe we can fill that need in-house.

Hope he overcomes this mental issue. Sometimes the mental issues are harder than physical ones.
If he does, and can be that 40% sharpshooter, that will check off on of our shopping needs this offseason.

The irony is that I thought BOS shot the 3 unreal in the Finals, and still lost. I think BOS almost got away without a true PG. I will also add, there were too many stretches, the opposing team went on runs. I have a few same movie gems: 1. Brown ISO running into the paint, 1 on 5, and dribbling the ball off his foot. 2. Tatum pounding the rock, then taking a well guarded 3 at the top of the key.

One speculation I heard on Boston sports radio 96.3 on the way home was that maybe the Celtics would add Evan Fournier. I mean if anyone fits into his TPE it's definitely him. They pointed out Brad is 1 for 2 on retreads, winning big on Al and coming up short on Theis. I can't say I'm the hugest fan of this plan, but he undoubtedly would have made the bench stronger in these playoffs.

Hmmmm... is that the best way to use our 17 mil TPE?
Fournier takes a lot of shots, which can be good and bad. He can handle the ball and be a little bit of a facilitator.

I'm also hearing and reading the Celtics are dangling Peyton Pritchard and Grant Williams. It sorta makes sense because maybe the value on those guys is as high as it will get for a while and maybe trading them now could save some money short and long term.

Sad to say cause we love them as our own kids, but Pritch and Grant as expendable -- and have to be if we're looking to upgrade our overall talent width and breadth. If Grant and Pritch were each 3 inches taller, maybe they're long term fixtures. But they are undersized at their positions for what we are trying to do.

I'm also reading the Celtics will be very interested in Nic Batum.

I like it. yeah, when you think about it if the Celts got Evan Fournier with the TPE and N Batum with the MLE....that's a lot deeper team all of a sudden. Still doesn't address the backup center spot. Cody Zeller for the LLE would be better than Theis at 8mill.
