Just wondering -- would you rather have Marcus Smart or Jrue Holiday?

I think Holiday is the better player. If you offer me Holiday for Smart, the only reason I'd even hesitate to do it would be that Holiday is a few years older.

Reason I ask is because I find myself thinking that we cannot move on from any of our starting 5 players, or else things will fall apart. But I think Jrue could make us better because he's a better scoring option, and still give us adequate defense. Maybe we don't have to be glued at the hip with Smart.

IMO Smart is no more than the 4th most important starter, and maybe the fifth. Tatum and Brown are givens. Rob is important at both ends. I think that's your real core.
Smart looks adequate at PG offensively until he faces someone like Holiday who he can't bully. I found myself watching Smart and wishing we had someone who could create offense.

Which is what I was thinking. One thing we lack is a true 3 pt threat in the starting lineup. Smart and Jaylen can hit threes, but they are just as likely to get hot as they would go cold. A PG who is a real threat who would keep defenders close or make them pay for sagging could be big, especially when on either side you have JT and JB. I'm not saying I ready to move on from Smart -- just wondering if we'd be served better by having a truer shooter/scorer (who can also play D).

Of course those guys are hard to find. Especially guys who can defend anyone they switch onto.

Marcus, it's time to return the favor. Show Jrue what a DPOY looks and feels like.

I want to hear what Nick Wright and Colin Cowherd will say about us after this game. Those 2 are always down on us.
So what do you guys think -- was Game 2 more of who we are, and Game 1 was just a bit off because of the long wait?

It was once Ojeleye, but the new Giannis stopper could be GWill. Grant might be even more stout on impact than Semi, and he may even shuffle and slide his feet better than him too. GWill could be the perfect antidote for Giannis's power drives, as he won't get nudged out of the way when Giannis leans in with his shoulder, and he's nimble enough on his feet to stay in front of the Greek Freak. Grant indeed is our new Giannis stopper. I wonder if Danny/Brad drafted GWill with stopping Giannis in mind.

I don't know, but he was amazing guarding Giannis. In my mind he has made the leap to "core player" now, for what he does on both ends.

There's been a lot of talk about how the Celtics can't keep depending on outside shooting to win this series - and I don't totally disagree - but what about the fact that the Bucks have scored 101 and 86 points in the first two games? I heard this morning that Middleton is out for the whole series, so where is MIL going to find THEIR scoring? If the Celtics keep their own turnovers down, as they did in Game 2, MIL is going to have much more trouble getting out and running, and Giannis is not nearly as effective when he doesn't have a head of steam.

We shot terribly in Game 1 and outstanding in Game 2 -- we can assume the middle will be the outcome for the series.
As you pointed out, Jr, we've stifled the Bucks offensively. They're not shooting well and Giannis isn't his usual efficient self.
This isn't a fluke, this is how impactful our defense has been playing for some time.
The question will be if we can keep hitting our shots at an acceptable clip. Can our two stars average 50-60 points? Can Horford, GWill, Smart and Pritch contribute enough scoring?
As long as the ball is moving around and finding the open guys, I think our offense can be solid.

Let's see how good Udoka is -- can he counter Budenholzer's counter in Game 3?
What kind of adjustments will MIl make, and what are we going to do to prepare for that?

Just wondering -- would you rather have Marcus Smart or Jrue Holiday? Holiday by far, at least this year and next. Like JMost said, the only reason i'd consider Smart is if we're talking long term, since he's younger than Jrue. But Holiday is an upper echelon defender, and is a far more valuable offensive player than Smart.
