After being an Ainge supporter all these years, I was a bit cautious when Brad Stevens took the helm.
He made moves right away, which showed me he wasn't going to be a tentative GM/POBO -- and as he made more moves during the season, I could see that he was constructing a team with a plan in place.
Moving on from Kemba and bringing back Horford was a big move (Al was looked at as an aging big with a massive contract).
He had to quickly bring in scoring talent last summer (Schroder, Richardson), wings with size (Juancho, Jabari), and help at the Bigs (Kanter). But when he realized they weren't pieces that fit, he scrapped them all and brought in Derrick White and Daniel Theis.
With the moves he's made, including hiring Ime Udoka, it's becoming obvious that Brad knows what to do to build a winning team.
I'm looking forward to this summer to see what Brad will do next to further improve this team.

I think the biggest things this summer will be.
1) figuring out an extension for GWill. He has one year left on his rookie deal. It would be awesome if they could hammer out an extension before the season starts.
2) Decide if he wants to use Al's semi-guaranteed deal to bring in someone else. A contract like Al's could be attractive to a team trying to shed salary. I'm of the belief that they should look at moving Al this off-season for someone younger. The track record for players in their age 36+ seasons is not good. That said, if they win it all, Big Al deserves to come back for a victory lap.
3)Fill gaps in the bench with the MLE and vet min deals. A lot of this will be decided if the C's brass want to pay the luxury tax next year.

I do NOT want to get rid of Al. I think he's a PROFESSIONAL that all the other players look to. I think it took a while but I think guys like Jaylen, Smart, Time Lord, Eminem, GWill and especially Tatum have finally come around to listening to the old man in the room.
He played 29 minutes per game this year. I would draft a young big and put him in Maine for a while, try to expand Kornet's role (or Theis) and try to get Al's minutes down to 22 minutes per game and no back to backs. I'd try to get Time Lord in there about 4 minutes less per game as well, and maybe Tatum 2 minutes less.
I would NOT mess up this chemistry. We HAVE the third star. It's basically healthy Time Lord, and Smart Smart. That's the third star. Push Nesmith to get in or get out. Hauser should be pushing him for his spot and he should be allowed to and encouraged to. The bench is alllmmooosstttt there. Don't fudge it up. Get an MLE guy maybe. Tell stars if they want to come here they need to take way way less money.
We're a legit destination now. We gotta act like it. Stop acting like we're a piece away, because we're not. We can win with this and soon

Yup, I don't want to mess with chemistry. We've found what works -- now is the time to add to it.
I think Brad is going to look for a big scoring wing off the bench -- someone quicker than Hauser who can also defend well.
He's gotta be cheap, though.

That's kinda rich. I mean, Rob is making just short of $10 mil per year, and he's way more impactful than GWill.
I'm hoping Grant loves his teammates, the city of Boston, and our chances of winning many championships that he'll stay for a fair market price.

Brad, this summer, I'm sure you are already working on it, but we need a reliable veteran bench scorer who fits in with that this team does (defends and plays team ball).
That's it, not asking for much.

No, Begarin and Madar are not ready yet (think they're still a few years away).
Plus, I'm hoping for an experienced veteran guy, not a young guy who's still developing and learning the ropes.

The name being floated around is Rubio. He plays average D, gets alot of turnover steals, can run the offense when Smart or JT needs a rest. Problem is his health. But if he stays healthy, hes a guy who could keep the momentum going off the bench with Pritch playing off ball.

If you surround Rubio with guys like Pritch, GWill, and Jaylen (assuming JT is taking a rest), thats multiple 3pt threats. I think that could work? Drive and kick out.

Rubio has been in the league 11 years and has played a total of 11 playoff games. I don't see him as a winner.

With Rubio, I'll always remember the stupidity of that Minnesota draft. 3 Point Guards in the first round. Constant failures by David Kahn over and over and over in every single draft he took part in. This is the guy that passed on so many star talents.
