The Celtics have agreed to a one year contract extension with Josh Richardson. Brad is definitely up to something with these contract extensions. I mean, I don't anyone believes we have a championship-level roster, but Brad is acting like he just wants to keep this band together as long as possible OR he's accumulating assets that are under contract for more than one year to set us up for a big trade acquisition. The latter is more likely. Right? It better be or there are a lot of people who will deservedly be in the unemployment line.

with rob and smart i think it's cuz they're valuable assets, either to the Celtics or in a trade. With Richardson's contract that seems like it's set up to be used in a trade. I wouldn't be shocked if it turned out that extension wasn't fully guaranteed. Think back to the contract extensions we gave Tyler Zeller and Amir Johnson 4-5 years ago.

I think it's well within the realm of possibility that Brad has spoken with many many GMs and Ainge left a lot of notes and he has gotten a ton of feedback. And the feedback was "We don't want to trade our star but hypothetically if we did or if we couldn't resign him or if he was demanding a trade and ruining team chemistry and performance we would probably want stuff like this. By the way I think so and so on your team is pretty good. A decent long term contract on a young guy like that....that's always good."
And Brad can't get what he wants this moment. But he's going to try. It definitely makes me think he is looking at trades. He is either thinking he will make one big one or he's thinking he'll have to make a ton of small ones.
If you look at Smart and Rob Will I really hope those are deals that he can unload quickly should he need to. He might easily be able to move Smart for a first. Firsts are under cheap contracts for a long time. Keeping your assets as fluid assets is not a bad thing.

Well, now we know how Brad really felt about certain players we had -- Tremont, Tacko, Semi, Tristan and possibly Kemba.
Maybe it was a numbers thing, but if he really liked them, I'm sure he would have figured out a way to keep them.

Does it make you wonder how much input he had in the draft selections?

Does it make you wonder how much input he had in the draft selections? I know, right? Maybe Brad gave his input, but at the end of the day it was a collaborative choice.
