Yeah, I don't see Brad as a guy to make panicky moves. More likely, he makes a move already knowing what his next move is.

Brad definitely definitely has a plan and a backup plan and a backup plan for his backup plan and a worst case break glass in case of emergency plan. (You don't want to go there.)

Brad has gone in record to say that he wants to acquire players who fit with Tatum and Brown.
What exactly do those players look like?

First, they have to be able to CONSISTENTLY knock down open shots that will be there when teams focus on JT and JB. A guy like Pritch fits this mold. It's the Paxson/Armstrong/Kerr role on the 90's Bulls.

Guys need to play hard from tip off through to end.

So is Josh Richardson the type who fits in with Tatum and Brown?

m.youtube.com/watch?v=k8-HmM6A5yUBrad talks well of Juhann Begarin. And seems high on Sam Howzah (sounds like he's already anticipating he will be fitting well alongside of Tatum and Jaylen because of his shooting). Says Josh Richardson plays with edge and wants to win. Let's hope he does. Schroder was a steal for that price.

"Per ESPN's salary cap expert Bobby Marks, Beal can sign a contract with the Wizards worth about $181.5 million over four years this offseason ($45.4M annually), or wait until next offseason and sign for about $235 million over five years ($47M annually). He currently has a player option for the 2022-23 season, which was the second year on the two-year extension he signed in 2019, worth a projected $37.3 million"
Beal has some big decisions to make. Stay at WAS for the most he can make, or lose some money for a chance to be an NBA champ?
And if Stevens is targetting Beal, how does he do it with this news?

We can get him by trading the guys we just grossly overpaid for in Smart ans Williams. Throw in Al too if you want to keep Williams.

I think when you're making that much money you don't care too much about sacrificing something for a ring. First of all he's only sacrificing what taxes won't take. Next, when you go to the playoffs you get playoff checks. If you win a ring or win Finals MVP you become way more marketable worldwide. He'll also want to sign another contract in 4 or 5 years, and being thought of as a top 15 guy instead of a top 30 guy will matter.

I don't think Beal coming here outright as a free agent was ever really that feasible. To have that kind of cap room we would've had to renounce the rights to Smart and Big Rob, which are two assets that would be hard to let walk for nothing. I think the idea was that'd he'd request a trade, and then we'd throw an offer at them. I think that was one of the big reasons we traded for Al, because that contract is a good trade piece since it's big so it's easy to match it up salary-wise, but it's also not fully guaranteed.

I think it is pretty obvious that Danny left because too many players are butt hurt about getting traded and don't trust Danny not to trade them. So Brad is supposedly the players coach (to a fault in my opinion) which really scares me because I don't want him to hold onto guys who are not producing or miss a chance to upgrade because he wants a better reputation than Danny had and doesn't want to hurt these weak minded players feelings. Ok, Al, Smart, Romeo, plus any other player they want not named Pritchard or RWill, and as many picks as it takes to get it done. Use the 17 for Bertrains and I think we have something in the works.

Yep I think part of a deal for Beal may involve taking back Bertrains' contract.

Also, this is why i'd love to see Romeo make a step forward this year, cuz that could he could be a nice trade chip as well.

The Celtics have agreed to a one year contract extension with Josh Richardson. Brad is definitely up to something with these contract extensions. I mean, I don't think anyone believes we have a championship-level roster, but Brad is acting like he just wants to keep this band together as long as possible OR he's accumulating assets that are under contract for more than one year to set us up for a big trade acquisition. The latter is more likely. Right?
