Probably because of the Hayward injury, and maybe because he more than held his own in his G-League debut, Romeo Langford has been called up to the big show.
Doesn’t mean he’ll automatically get playing time — he’ll have to earn it by beating Javonte Green first.

I hope he gets some time in now. It'd be great to see him there, I enjoyed seeing that he and Tremont (and Tacko!) did really well in the one G league game. I expect that, but it's nice to see it regardless.

Hoping he get some burn soon.. not sure how much I want to see Semi getting any minutes. Green has definitely impress me so far with his athleticism and his niche to get some buckets.

I’m cutting and pasting this from another site, of an article from the Globe written by Adam Himmelsbach on Romeo Langford:
“Luckily, he’s got great emotional maturity for his age,” said Celtics assistant coach Joe Mazzulla, who has been assigned to work closely with Langford. “To be 20 years old and go through some of the stuff that he has to this point, I think he handles things very well. “He’s never one to get down on himself, but sometimes you pick him up or push him a little bit. He’s very level-headed and optimistic." Langford is excited to be nearing another return. He has completed shooting drills over the past few days and believes he will be cleared for full practices sometime next week.
He has also spent plenty of time watching film with Mazzulla. They have studied each game, focusing both on what the Celtics have done well and what they have done poorly. And they’ve also studied other players from around the league who have qualities the Celtics believe Langford should emulate. “He’s a great student of the game,” Mazzulla said. “He loves to play basketball and watch basketball. He’s a smart player. When you show him something once, he can usually translate it onto the floor. I think for him it’s just a matter of getting reps.”
“The front office did a great job of communicating why they drafted him, and he trusts why they drafted him,” Mazzulla said. “He trusts this whole process. I’m not saying everything is easy. But he’s mature enough to say, ‘OK, here’s where I’m at and here’s where I need to get to. What do I need to do to get there?’ He’s great at seeing that.” Added Langford: “I know my name is going to be called eventually, and I’m going to be ready. All I can do is just stay ready. I want to have fun and just contribute to the team and contribute to us being successful.”
————————————————————————
I like that Danny (and I assume Brad) has communicated with Romeo why they drafted him. I take this to mean they communicated with him what role, and what type of player they envision him to be. And I like that Romeo has bought into it and is working on becoming that player.
If I had to guess the type of player he could be, I’d say Gordon Hayward. Neither player is blessed with great speed or athleticism, but both are savvy about getting to the basket using adequate ball handling, along with a sturdy frame, and both have feel for fascilitating the offense (even Gordon commented in preseason how Romeo was advanced in his ability to read plays and make right passes for a 20 year old).
I can say confidently that Romeo’s feel for fascilitating the offense is better than Jaylen’s was when he was a rookie.

I was watching the game and the way he grabbed at his foot when he went down looked bad. We can only hope it won't keep him out long. He really seems to have a knack for scoring, never rushing but finding his way to open shots. Today he scored 14 pts in 17 minutes.
Thumb surgery before summer league, groin injury during summer league, knee sprain in training camp, sprained ankle early in his second G league game after scoring 25 in his first, and then another foot/ankle injury today. Either he's very fragile or he's been extraordinarily unlucky. If he can ever stay healthy he could be a heckuva player.
Update: “I just came down and rolled my ankle again,” said Langford, who finished with 14 points in 17 minutes. “I’ll be fine.”

I honestly wouldn’t mind shutting Romeo down from games this season so that he can concentrate on getting his body right — plus hone his new shooting form.

At this point it definitely has to occur to you that he needs to work on his body. Maybe he just needs to tape his ankles, one of Tommy's favorite themes, if he isn't already doing it.
I really haven't seen him play much - I guess nobody has - but I've been wondering where he fits in to Danny's plans. Brown and Tatum just had their best combined game of their careers, and Hayward was playing great before his hand injury. With Smart also playing minutes at off guard, where do Romeo's minutes come from? Is he the longterm replacement for Hayward - who has one year left after this one?

I would think he’s being looked at as a future core player, along with Jayson and Jaylen (might have to change his name to Jay-meo).
He’s got the qualities that Brad likes (6’6”-6’8” ball handling, fascilitating, perimeter shooting, basket driving, defending player).
He fits in age wise with the Jay-team.

"Jay-meo". lol
I just hope he can stay healthy. It's impossible to project anything if he can't do that.

Jay-Meo’s game in which he scored 17 pts before going down with another ankle sprain. m.youtube.com/watch?v=370T7I_ROWQI’m thinking his game will translate to the NBA. We know that Abdel Nader looked good in the D-League, but hasn’t made much of an impact in the NBA. But Nader was just athletic enough and crafty enough to look good in the D-League. Romeo seems to have enough quickness and fluidity, and touch around the rim to convert over.

I have to wonder if today's shoes are a major contributor to injuries? Recent examples - Lonzo Ball, Zion Williamson.

How common it is to hear some buy new shoes and immediately come down shin splints.
