It seems that most of the talk has the fight for the 15th and last roster spot coming down to Tacko or Javonte Green. I want to propose that we keep them both and move someone else off the roster, specifically Brad Wanamaker. Tommy loves Waters at PG and he'd be fine as PG depth behind Walker and Smart. Not to mention that Gordon can run the offense at times. I think Wanamaker is the most likely guy to not make the roster. My other dark horse not to make the roster is Semi, who had a nice rookie season in limited duty, but stalled last year. I thought he might turn into a nice 3 and D guy, but I haven't seen much progress. Tacko has unique abilities and it seems worthwhile to see what he can turn into. And Javonte is a Danny Ainge kind of player, and apparently the C's see him in the Tony Allen mode of defensive pest. Here's a good Boston Globe article about Mr. Green. www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2019/10/09/overlooked-more-celtics-javonte-green-charging-toward-roster-spot/BWEI2GmZKPFpYsN2oJvTpO/story.html

Agree with this proposal. Tacko's skill set is so unique I would hate to lose him due to players that kind of redundant in their role. With this upcoming draft (Grant/Romeo/Edwards/Waters) I don't see any need for Semi/Wannamaker on this roster as the rooks can easily fill their role plus add more areas of need.

I think Semi "is what it is", in regards to development. Greene has $150k guarantee, which means he can't be assigned to the Red Claws. I expect Danny to create a roster spot by trading a player for a 2nd round, say top-55 protected selection.

In my opinion, Tacko needs playing time and reps to get better but he has a huge (no pun intended) upside. Not to mention all the marketing dollars they can get from him. Greene is very athletic and can help the team now. I don't think I'd cut Wannamaker because he gives mistake free minutes for the most part. I like Semi also for his defense in spurts when needed on players like LeBron and Giannis.
I think they should cut Strus, who really hasn't shown much of anything so far, and give Tacko the second 2-way contract. That way they keep him under contract and don't let another team grab him and he gets the playing time and experience he needs to reach his potential. And he can play up to 45 days with the Celtics. Also with the Celtics now owning the Red Claws, it gives that team a boost also. Win Win Win

I thought Brad should have played him over Rozier in the playoffs last year.

And again last night, Strus didn't show much of anything. Tacko needs that 2 way contract.

If they can sign Tacko to a two-way I'd agree, but first Tacko would have to agree to that. With other teams likely to pay him an NBA salary, are we willing to do the same on a two-way, or would Tacko take less from us? I think he probably has to make the 15 man roster or he's gone.
I also agree that Wanamaker has been solid. I just think Waters is kind of special in the way he sees the game.

Big bodied wings who can shoot seems to be on Danny’s wishlist. In recent years it’s been James Young and Abdel Nader. Now it’s Max Strus.
We haven’t seen the fruit of what he envisions doing with these big wings, but after giving Strus his new contract, let’s hope he’s the one who proves Ainge is a genius.

Strus finally looked good in the game against the Cavs. They say he has looked really good in practice also.
Tacko said that he was happy to get the 2 way contract as he loves the organization and his teammates. I think he realizes that being able to get more playing time and being able to work on his game more is the best thing for him and he will still be around the guys on the team and some of them will likely join him in Maine from time to time.

I think a lot of fans think Tacko could be a good development project, and Maine could provide a good opportunity to play.

I’m wondering if Tremont is heading to the D-League? He’s a natural PG who’s better suited practicing against Kemba and Smart, and getting 5 - 8 minutes of burn time. To me, that’ll be worth more than playing full time against sgnificantly lesser talent.

Waters keeps impressing me, and he looks NBA ready. A team here in Portland with him and Tacko would be fun to watch though.
