I think it's Tony Gwynn who hit .338 Is it just me or does this draft seem to be very heavily weighted toward smaller guys? Not many big men in the mocks I've seen. There might come out of this draft some serviceable bigs. Guys like Zeke Nnaji, Reggie Perry, Paul Reed, Xavier Tillman, Luka Garza, and Daniel Otoru could be nice finds in the later part of the draft and the undrafted market. And guys like Okongwu, Toppin and Wiseman will be the earlier picked bigs who may have more significant roles on their team.

Cassius Stanley (sorry RoadRunner, he’s a Dukie) is a very smooth and explosive athlete with a sweet jump shot. Was a secondary weapon for Duke, so maybe we haven’t seen all he can do.
We don’t need yet another wing, but that position is a hot commodity in today’s game. If we have a lot of good young wings, we can probably get a good return in a trade.

There are no high end bigs (besides Wiseman), but the mid to late first round is going to be littered with bigs.

I’m interested in Tillman — just knows how to play positional defense and has good anticipation on where to be. Offensively he’s got a bit of craft in the post. His wide body helps him finish beyond the defender’s reach. Zeke Nnaji is not big defensively (more offensive minded), but I think a duo of Nnaji and RWill, with that length and athleticism could be intruiging.

Paul Reed is another player to consider at 17 (or moreson if he slips to 26). At 6’9”, he reminds me of a tad less explosive but slightly less wild Pascal Siakam. Scores, rebounds, blocks shots, steals passes 👍 (plus, I love Paul Reed Smith guitars).

Kira Lewis is a 6’3” PG out of Alabama. I look more favorably on Lewis than I did Colin Sexton (a former highly touted PG out of Alabama). Different body type and playing style — Lewis is slender and glides on the court with tremendous speed, while Sexton is a bulldog.
Lewis’ game is predicted on speed, and he’s very effective with his slight hesitation that free’s him up to blow right past his defender.
He’s got a solid jumper and can hit 3’s at a decent clip.
IMO, would be a solid pickup for us.

Grant Riller, 6’3” Comboguard out of Charleston, has a Fred Vanvleet feel about him. He put slightly better stats over his 4 years than FVV did in his four years, but that doesn’t guarantee anything. Riller moves a bit better than FVV, being more athletic and explosive, but it’s still on the average end. He gets by with changing speeds and some herky jerky moves.
His shot is flat, but they go in. And they go in at a very good clip.
Might be worth a shot at the backend of the 1st.

The NBA Draft Lottery will now take place on August 20, next Thursday. As Celtics fans Memphis's draft spot is probably the most interesting thing. The pick they owe us is top 6 protected this year. So if we want the pick to roll over they'll have to get lucky with the ping pong balls. Of course if they win their play-in game they won't be in the lottery at all.
Update: Memphis lost their play-in game so WILL be in the lottery. I read this morning that there is less than 3 chance that they move into the Top 4. If they don't, we get the [HASH]14 pick.

I think this is the type of draft, where the best player of the draft goes circa mid round, aka Giannis however does BOS have the room to take (3) players? If so, does that make Semi, and Poirer expendable (Edwards too)?

I won't lose any sleep if Poirier goes. He's not terrible, but he looks slow to me. Carson Edwards had that one amazing quarter in summer league but hasn't shown much since. I still have hope for Semi though. He's solid on D and his shooting from deep has improved a lot. I think he might still be able to contribute.
I know Danny always says he picks the best available player but I hope he stays away from wing players this time - unless someone just blows him away. I know they are high on Romeo, and with JB and JT on board for the long term, and GH (maybe) staying beyond next year, we really don't need more wing players. (There's also Jevonte Green, who impresses me every time I see him.)
I hope you're right about there being quality available mid-first round. It would be great to get lucky at [HASH]14.

So,I've been looking at mock drafts and I don't remember so many players that are projected to go anywhere from top 10 to in the 20's. Very little consensus past the top few. It does seems likely that we could get a decent PG, shooting wing, or rebounding/defensive PF.
I don't think anyone sees Danny adding three rookies to the roster next year (not even counting a second round pick), so he's going to have to either trade a pick or two, consolidate several picks to move up, or do a draft and stash, which we haven't had the best luck with. I think I'd like to see him use the [HASH]14 and consolidate or trade the others.

There are a handful of late lotto prospects that im mildly intrigued by. I'd love to see that big center from Kansas fall to us in the 2nd round. I think he's a good guy to have as a 3rd center when you're in the same division as Embiid. I'm trying to convince myself that Kira Lewis or Tyrell Terry could the future for us at PG.
JMost, can you recall when you first got really into rooting for the C's as a kid? What are the earliest seasons you remember following them?

Yeah, highly doubtful that Danny intentionally keeps all 4 picks (3 first rounders and a second round pick).
Maybe try to move some for future draft picks.
Fresh, I’m not into Azubuike — aside for a big body and a motor, I can’t see much translatable skills.
JMost, I’m a fan of Tyrell Terry, and to a lesser extent Kira Lewis. Terry might be gone at 14, though.

Fresh, my earliest memory is of Cousy dribbling out the clock in a Finals clinching game, 1962 I think. I would have been 8. I got into the C's when my grandfather gave me an old fashioned transistor radio. I'd put the radio under my pillow and listen to Johnny Most when I was supposed to be sleeping.

One report I heard on the radio is that the C's are trying to bundle their 3 picks in the 1st round to move up in the lottery. Given how many guys we already have under contract, I can see the logic in this, especially if Danny has a particular guy targeted. On the other hand, there seems to be little consensus on who the best players are past the first few. Danny marches to his own drummer though so maybe he thinks he knows something that others don't.
