Sounds like we like Devon Dotson, a 6’2” PG from Kansas. Has a little more size and speed than Devontae Graham and Frank Mason (also KU alums). I think he’s serviceable.

Patrick Williams of Florida State is going to make one GM look very good if he makes good on his development.
Increase his ball handling and become a more alert passer, and he’s going to be a terrific modern day PF. Williams shows good potential as a shooter from 3 and midrange. He’s a fantastic athlete and riser off of one or two feet. Has quick twitch muscles and can snatch up rebounds in traffic.
Looks like he can play defense.
14 might be stretch — if Ainge likes him, might want to move up.

This is such a weird draft. I definitely wouldnt be shocked if the players taken 8-14 in the lottery have better careers than the players taken 1-7. No sure things at all it seems.

Grant Riller, 6’3” PG, Charleston
He’s a senior, so he’s pretty polished. Reminds me of Deron Williams, in build and game.
Got some Isaiah Thomas in him. Really good at driving, absorbing contact, and finishing in different ways.
Probably not a defensive stalwart.

If Cole Anthony makes it to 14, he’d have to be in the mix. I don’t think he’s Austin Rivers 2.0. He has a better jumper (though his percentages don’t reflect it).
It’ll be a mistake to make Cole a pass first set up PG. He’s an undersized scoring guard, and if we draft him, we should play him in the Brad Wanamaker role. He could turn out to be a fairly good scorer off the bench, or a nice complementary starter.

I hope we can get a more intriguing talent than Anthony. I want us to gamble on someone with more upside.

With no tournaments, no workouts, and interviews limited to remote-only, it's a tough year to be a talent evaluator. It's a year some GMs will look really smart and others not so much, when we look back in a few years.

We can work them out, but they won’t be going up against other players. Basically just watching them shoot.

And, I assume, agility drills, and the infamous sprint test.

Yeah, that sprint drill that makes everyone heave!

That test is to test toughness, right? More so than fitness?

That test is to test toughness, right? More so than fitness? I think both. See how mentally strong you are, how much you’ll sacrifice to complete the task. And probably to see your stamina (though I can’t picture Jared Sullinger finishing it without grabbing a burger).

Call me skeptical about Desmond Bane. He’s 6’6” with a minus 2 wingspan (6’4”), he’s thick in the upper body like Nene, not fast, not shifty, not athletic — but yes, if you leave him open he can drain 3’s.

Isaac Okoro is a powerful athlete. I’d draft him under 2 conditions: 1) that we can play him at the 4, and 2) we feel that he can eventually hit 3’s at the league average.
